King Draper: “Atmosphere” solidifies his sound and engraves it in stone

Born Adrian Duval Owen II in Birmingham, AL, King Draper has released his latest 3-track EP entitled “Atmosphere”. He solidified his sound and engraved it in stone with this project. He sounds so comfortable and melodic on every track. The drums hit so smooth. The vocals he uses is so soothing to the ear, and the album has a little something for everyone  – not only those who King Draper fans, but fans of hip hop, R&B, alternative, and just straight cool uplifting vibes. The man literally pours his heart out on the tracks “Everywhere” [prod. by Yondo], Nikes” [prod. by Origami] and “Next Generation” (ft. Poet) [prod. by Taylor King].

Every song contains a different emotion based off King Draper’s deep and inquisitive mind and you can really hear the love and passion for the music come through these tracks. Take some time to grab some headphones or high quality speakers and dive into the sounds of every song, don’t just play it in the background and judge it based off that.

King Draper always been a source of intrigue as one of rap’s underground outliers. His emotional availability and aptitude for innovation is as much an asset as his eclectic palette. These traits solidify him as an artist with a sizable reach across the hip-hop spectrum – if you like rap you’ll appreciate his reflective verses, if you’re more of a pop fan you’ll fall for the melodic interludes in his songs.

Listening to his music you will become quite aware of how King Draper’s charm carries him quite far along with his natural talents.

Yet again on “Atmosphere” his music has not fallen victim to the kind of gradual decline that rap has typically been tolerating for far too long. Prone to experimentation King Draper remains an envelope pusher, but he also retains his deep thinking attitude, and these two elements are explosive when nurtured together – as they are on this EP.

All throughout this recording we find King Draper taking a deep dive into the land of introspection to reckon with commitment – his, ours, and yours, among other things – this is especially evident and heartfelt on “Everywhere” [prod. by Yondo]. King Draper also takes a hard look at our commercially driven, corporate-led society, in “Nikes” [prod. by Origami], supplying plenty of food for thought for this generation to chew on.

“Next Generation” (ft. Poet) [prod. by Taylor King] continues the examination of our misguided existential attitudes and the legacies we should be working towards leaving behind for the next generation. As on his previous releases, “Atmosphere” once again reveals King Draper to have a great ear for production and a knack for intuitive melodies.

With only 3-tracks the EP doesn’t attempt to be overly ambitious and is perfectly cooked with its easily digestible lyrics, tuneful singing, and overall sharp lyrical focus. As you can see, rapping is just a part of what King Draper does extremely well!
