Dan Q spits what he wants with absolute precision targeting anything and everything. Dan Q showed huge potential with “Can I Have You? ft. Chenell” released last year and again earlier this year with “Buddha Flow ft. Xolani Jane”. His flow is absolutely on point not missing a single beat and his rhymes go from vivid storytelling to making fun of whatever he wants. This time Dan Q is back with a fun track, entitled “Smooth As Sade”.
Dan Q takes hip hop back to what it was created to be, a real form of communication between the people, not the mind-numbing ‘rap’ that exists today with most mainstream artists today. For better or worse, there aren’t too many emcees that are close in skill level to that of Dan Q.
The double entendres, the knack to flip his style at the drop of the dime and unique capability to tell stories, all make him an interesting listen. Though on this one he isn’t going in too deep on this one, he is still entertaining listeners with a quality idea, great wordplay and straight-up technique.
The production is built on a groovy soulful beat, and is about as cool as the artist Sade is. His lyrics and the tone of the song are perfect. Dan Q’s style is almost too sophisticated to be mainstream hip-hop. The clever concept of the single and the substance contained therein, suggests an artist who’s committed to quality to the fullest extent. “Smooth As Sade” really shows Dan Q’s relaxed, offhand manner and a passion for what he is doing. And with passion usually comes classic material.
