ADAMANT: “More Than Life” – A classic sounding, potential hit for the ladies!

When it comes to getting romantic, listening to hip-hop is probably your last choice as a genre. R&B slow jams, sensitive rock ballads, smoothed-out jazz—anything but a swaggering misogynous gangsta yelling at you over a percussion pumping banging beat. If it’s a sex song you’re looking, the genre’s got you covered. If it’s a pimping players’ anthem you want, they got you covered. But a heartfelt romantic love song, that’s an ode to your lady? That’s some sucker bullshit.

Ever since LL Cool J hit mainstream radio with “I Need Love,” more than a quarter of a century ago, a steady stream of rappers have tried their hand at the elusive “love song.” And from thug-love anthems to sensitive bohemian odes, a handful has actually done it well. Until Earl Adamant Allen bka ADAMANT came along to do it completely right.

Adamant was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana. He enjoys making music and writing poetry, along with working with kids in a treatment center. “Being able to make a difference in someone’s life,” says ADAMANT, “is an amazing feeling.” Light up the incense; cuddle up to shorty, and press play on his latest single release, “More Than Life”.

He may not be an R&B dude, but ADAMANT makes R&B moves. Though this classic sounding, potential hit for the ladies, is not a ‘sexy slow jam’ or a ‘street nigga rap’ song, and the man needs to get credit for that alone. With some sultry female singing on the chorus, ADAMANT does the rest on this track, to hold it down for his woman. In a rich clean baritone voice that both Common and Rakim would be proud of he wears his heart on his sleeve.

The last thing you want when delivering a love song, is not to be heard. That doesn’t happen here as ADAMANT has a smooth flow, crystal clear diction and a rhyme style that is just plain easy on the ear.

To sum it up best, this new venture undoubtedly works for him with the production being nothing short of organically flamboyant. This allows for ADAMANT to showcase himself with a suave and debonair style that fits both the old-school and new school atmospheres.

At the end of the day, what you get in “More Than Life” is journey that is well worth taking. If only because this track is infinitely better than the majority of romantic material the genre has been dropping in the last decade!
