Recardo Ramkishun: The Storyteller Behind Horizon Beats

Behind the melodic production of Horizon Beats is a songwriting partnership built from two different creative backgrounds. While founder and producer Steven Sinanan shaped the project’s electronic sound, lyricist and creative collaborator Recardo Ramkishun helped give that sound its stories.

Long before joining Horizon Beats, Ramkishun was a writer. Growing up in New York, he found an outlet in creative writing during his teenage years. Fictional characters, handwritten stories and notebooks filled with ideas became a way to explore emotions and experiences he struggled to express directly. Music offered a similar escape, and eventually those two interests began to overlap. Storytelling gradually became songwriting.

After partnering with longtime friend Sinanan, Ramkishun became Horizon Beats’ primary lyricist and creative collaborator. His background in storytelling helped establish an approach where lyrics were not simply written around an electronic production, but used to give its emotion context.

Recardo Ramkishun’s writing often explores relationships, memories, regret, uncertainty and the difficulty of letting people go. Rather than trying to resolve every emotion, his lyrics leave room for listeners to recognize their own experiences within the story.

That approach became an important part of his creative partnership with Sinanan. Where Sinanan’s melodic progressive house production could communicate emotion without words, Ramkishun’s songwriting could explain where that feeling came from. Together, the two combined electronic production with narrative-driven lyrics that became a defining element of Horizon Beats’ later work.

For Ramkishun, Horizon Beats also transformed something once deeply personal into something public. Writing that began privately in notebooks eventually reached listeners around the world, with fans connecting to the stories and messages behind the songs. During his roughly year-and-a-half tenure, Horizon Beats also received recognition from independent music publications including EARMILK and A&R FACTORY.

What began as a teenager escaping into fictional stories eventually became something much larger. Recardo Ramkishun never stopped telling stories. He simply found a different way to tell them.
