Robbie Agnew – “Slipping Away” – the deeper edges of auditory and emotional capability

Robbie Agnew is a Canadian pop singer, songwriter and actor, who became interested in singing at the age of 12. He auditioned for a school play by singing “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and won the part of a singing gangster. At 14 he joined a school talent show and sang an original song he and some friends wrote. The reception of his talents was such, that Robbie became known as “the Singer”. Agnew has since continued singing, performing and entertaining in plays, concerts and competitions. All of which led to him to sign 360 Entertainment, and now the release of his debut single, entitled “Slipping Away”, which dropped on Dec 14. The official video will be released in early January, while Robbie has promised new music will be released every 2nd month.

Good things almost always result when an artist knows his strengths. This makes sure that everything is so fully, completely, and perfectly in its right place on. Robbie Agnew is guaranteed to send a chill up the spine of anyone who loves pop with a singer-songwriter twist, illuminated with a sense of heartfelt lyricism.

“Slipping Away” is a remarkably well-crafted pop track that finds the singer trying on his best vocal styles, prominently showcasing his far-reaching range and making some flagrant falsetto excursions. The song is short and to the point, hence never outstays its welcome. It’s a confident step forward that could very well usher in a new and bigger phase of a career that’s expected to flourish.

Robbie Agnew has capitalized on his emotional register, encapsulating whole worlds of loneliness, longing, and true love. Starting his professional recording career with a mid-tempo ballad, the Canadian born and raised singer understands that the music surrounding him is about both restraint and release.

He grasps that most of its momentum should be felt rather than simply heard, therefore he takes it towards the deeper edges of auditory and emotional capability. Agnew knows that pure volume and drama aren’t necessary the only elements of affecting pop music, and that most romantic emotion occurs on a rawer more profound scale.

The minimal, clean guitar-driven backdrop and accompanying percussion is all Robbie Agnew needs to unfold his narrative, in a voice that resonates and bellows with pure sentiment. Agnew uses his voice carefully, which is important because you know he’s not using it solely for his intonation to seem deliberate, but to sound truly meaningful in the process.

His performances is fleet, determined and attentive. Its elegant architecture fleshed out with a constantly evolving range of sonic details, shudders of soaring vocal currents that take center stage on “Slipping Away”. Feeling true to himself as an artist, Agnew takes a stand with his own voice. The best way to describe his execution is ‘warm and passionate’.

“Slipping Away” has a custom built sound for a serious run at success. Its warmth carries with the genuineness and sincerity in Robbie Agnew’s voice. This song does not show a single flaw in movement from beginning to end, making it difficult to not be drawn into its allure.
