Goose has just released his EP entitled “Love Lost”. The whole recording is driven by love, pain, deep thought, inspiration, and sadness. “So many emotions I feel appear when you’re love lost,” says Goose. “When your heart is on the search for happiness but it takes you through so many different journeys in order to finally get it.”
All in all, from a critical standpoint I would like to say this EP relies solely on the epic electronic beats, however, Goose’s voice definitely makes this project what it is, as he raps and sings his was through a cloud of dreamy melancholy that will engulf and mesmerize your senses.
Goose stretches on each syllable like the beat is so well ingrained within the vernacular of his brain the slow-burning melodies simply become etched out when he utters them. Each song is able to entice the senses on an elemental level without requiring the listener to do much more than enjoy the gentle breezing ride.
With “Love Lost”, Goose is not offering an experimental piece with hidden truths or but rather with conceptual plotlines based on the EP’s title. The sonic foundation of “Love Lost” certainly raises its stock because it places Goose right in his comfort zone.
And he effectively caters to his fan-base by delivering an immediately gratifying project. Goose shows he is capable of creating a high caliber body of work by implementing a refined lyrical focus and taking more time to craft the musical soundscapes, and that heightens the value of “Love Lost” as a mood-setting EP, fully capable of being enjoyed from front to back without a care in the world, while you get lost in its heavy-heartedness.
The craftsmanship that went into the tracks is undeniable. Rich with vocal melodies and harmonies, the instrumentals are also engaging, moody, and orchestral, especially on standouts such as “Life Gets Me Down”, “Lost One”, and “Bigger Than The World” – Resulting in a recording that’s ultimately blessed with an abundance of innovation.
Despite the obvious doom and gloom of love lost, the production throughout the EP is impressive and cohesive.
Just how important is substance to music? How important is originality? Performing skill? Listening to a lot of music, one develops a set of criteria by which you judge it, like looking for depth of emotion, or creative soundscapes. Luckily with Goose we do not have to look too hard.
He puts his vocal wares and the music production on full display from track one, allowing the rest of his artistic virtues to spring forth spontaneously.
