J-Fly is an up and coming hip-hop artist from Manhattan, KS, who became inspired to write his own lyrics after growing up on rap music played by his older siblings. It was in high school where he gained a buzz from rapping in front of fellow classmates that he realized this was something he wanted to pursue.
In 2015 he caught the attention of AR6TEEN Entertainment, an independent record label. He was offered an opportunity with the label and made his debut in AR Vazquez’s “48 Bars” music video. With the success of his first single “Straight Wreckin”, and the security of a supportive label by his side now, J-Fly is ready to take it to the next level.
And part of that ‘next level’ plan is the single “That Could Be Us”. J-Fly has refined and reconfigured his sound, placing more and more emphasis on his rapping while coming to favor sleeker, more dramatic production. It’s a journey now reaching its peak on this track.
It’s undeniably the product of a strong will, delivered without any guests. Introspection and honesty seem to be central to his artistry, and “That Could Be Us” keeps present reality at the forefront with a particular focus on the rapper’s growing grind towards fame and how he handles it.
