Nora Lilith returns with the experimentally enchanting – ‘Daysof8’

The intriguing, enchantingly creative mind of Majestica Casual signee Nora Lilith returns with ‘Daysof8’, the second uniquely stunning single & video to be revealed from her forthcoming debut EP of the same name.

A champion in the DIY world, Nora Lilith’s last single, ‘Misfed’ saw the young artist re-emerge to begin a new era, shedding layers of her past and boldly introducing us to a brand new chapter in her career. ‘Daysof8’ continues the story, expanding on Nora Lilith’s ongoing journey of self-exploration and discovery via a beautifully intimate, self-composed number inspired by the feeling of not being good enough for your romantic partner.

FFO:Abra, James Blake, Alice Phoebe Lou, Sevdaliza, Thom Yorke, Against all Logic, and Salami Rose Joe Louis.

“The name Daysof8 feels representative of days where one is able to energetically hold love. the number 8 is structurally and visibly similar to an infinity symbol. To me, true love is an act of extending oneself for the sake of another’s growth. This act is infinite- infinitely doable and experientially infinite. It also makes me think of symbols of duality and balance, like yin/yang, an interplay between two forces that are fluid and symbiotic.

Upon discovering the Soundtoy’s ‘Alterboy’ plugin, I wrote this track, as well as Yolk, (another track on my upcoming EP) – both on the same day. I was really just experimenting with this vocal tone, and it excited me to be able to manipulate my voice to such a degree. I laid down the drums first, then the bass line, and the vocal melody came pretty naturally from just hearing that initial groove. Lyrically, Daysof8 is about the synthesis of recognizing your own limitations and mistakes in a relationship whilst wishing the other to be free from the clutches of those shortcomings. It’s a confession of one’s own attachments and desperations, and a statement of loving release of that hold and an encouragement to ‘go’ be free.”

Limitless in her creativity and her artistry, Nora Lilith’s sound captures various lo-fi electronic ambiences as she explores the cracks and crevasses of experimental bedroom style beats, house, R&B and Jazz. Unusual, unexpected and utterly unique, ‘Daysof8’ is yet another mesmerizing offer from Nora Lilith who continues to grow and evolve her sound with each new release, expanding her talents and inviting listeners to delve deep into her reflective world of introspection and candid vulnerability.

Nora Lilith is taking a DIY approach to her music— writing, producing, and mixing everything herself. Her eclectic, mostly genre-less sound is a compound of various lo-fi electronic tones ranging from experimental bedroom pop style beats to house, r&b and jazz. While she has been singing her whole life, she started teaching herself how to use Ableton merely two years ago. She seeks to truly embrace her naiveté in the field with her unconventional production and writing process— often using found sounds and her own voice to create instrumentation and textured soundscapes.

Having grown up with one foot in Berlin, Germany and another in Austin, TX, Nora reflects the movement and disparate nature of her own life onto her music. She draws inspiration from her given name and its connection to mythology, as the character Lilith in Jewish/ Mesopotamian folklore stands to offer a sense of strength in darkness and idiosyncratic liberation. By embracing the symbol of Lilith, Nora seeks to continuously reinvent herself and let curiosity and her contemplative malaise guide her.

Nora Lilith was one half of the now defunct indie electronic project called NÄM, whose single ‘Face’ was 3rd on Spotify’s US viral 50 charts and 4th on the Global viral 50 chart. NÄM has received coverage from blogs like Earmilk and IndieShuffle, as well as played shows like Sylvan Esso’s afterparty at Stubb’s in Austin and festivals like ACL and SXSW.
