“We all have those crucial crossroad points in our life, a moment in which you have to look at what you’ve got and realistically decide what’s next and what’s for the best,” says singer-songwriter Jeremy Parsons. “Things To Come” is the fourth single and title track from Parsons’ forthcoming album, out January 8th, 2021. It is about the journey that got Parsons here, a rollercoaster ride of drugs and alcohol, a search for the correct answers for himself.
“I walked that path until it almost killed me, and then with the help of the ones I love the most, I made a shift,” explains Jeremy Parsons, continuing. “I quit drinking because it was destroying me, my friendships, and all I had worked to achieve. This is a song for the future, and it comes with the knowledge that we are in control of our own lives, and we should look forward to that, no matter how rough it gets.”
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Jeremy Parsons grew up soaking in the sounds of Texas music in the dancehalls of the Lone Star State. Jeremy was always a fan of music, but it wasn’t until his later high school years that he discovered his knack for it. Driven by his passion, he taught himself to play the guitar and began to write and perform music. Over the past decade, Jeremy has played all over the U.S. and in Europe.
“Here’s to you, to now, and to all the things to come,” sing Parsons. His music comes from the heart and soul. There is honesty in his lyrics, and a story that won’t be kept under wraps. We are entering an age of music for artists of integrity, like Jeremy Parsons to stand up and be counted. Artists who want to create something with fiber to it. Something meaningful.
Jeremy Parsons one of the most gifted and talented song writers in the game right now. All of which is evident within the hard-hitting simplicity of “Things To Come”. A real life story wrapped up in a soothing Texas twang. It’s raw and addicting; its bittersweet feelings sprinkled with sounds of nostalgia and yearning.
I’ve been sitting on this tune all week, trying to flesh out how to explain what it is that makes this track so unique. With each listen, I keep finding something else to appreciate; if not the phenomenal production, the lyrics and the images beautifully painted in the storyline, by a voice that’s easy and smooth on the ear.
The old world sentiments are immediate as the track opens out into a steady waltz that is simply majestic. Then the melody hits and you realize this isn’t some long forgotten country tune, but a crafty reinvention of that classic sound, which is captivatingly impacting on the ear.
I would highly recommend “Things To Come” to anyone and everyone out there looking for an Americana-styled song that brings to life the struggles and hardships many of us have to face as flawed beings. Jeremy Parsons’ voice and narrative is thoroughly persuasive in its authenticity.
