Let me start by saying that I am, by this time, a devout fan of Pauline Frechette’s remarkable talent, which includes her songwriting and her instrumental and vocal performances. I only discovered Pauline some months ago, but I’ve learned that it’s never too late to come to the table. She has recently released the classically-inspired piece “Come Away With Me” which is gorgeously sung and orchestrated.
It is a great showcase of the nuances of her lustrous voice. When Pauline sings this, it is the voice of the angels, and few can come close to the beauty of her delivery. The song arrangement was done by renowned arranger, composer and conductor, David Campbell.
I would rather listen to Pauline Frechette than a great deal of the sopranos staggering around opera and theatrical stages and let’s be honest her classical compositions are beautifully done. What also impresses is that her voice is just as pure and strong as it was years ago.
Pauline has sung many styles of music, and while her voice is firmly rooted in a classical essence you always know she is trying to put her own brand of spontaneity and theatricality to any genre she tackles by fusing her personal nature into the songs.
It’s a big world and artistry represents another world within that world. There’s room in all of this for exceptional artists like Pauline Frechette and her multiple musical personae, both vocal and instrumental. You can’t box Pauline into a single genre, but you can fit just about any single genre around the talents of Pauline Frechette.
If you have ever heard her voice, you will know what I mean. If you have not, “Come Away With Me”, is just as good a place as any to start.
I believe it is important to grasp that Pauline is an artist who strives and succeeds in becoming one with the music she sings. This adds a dimension to her presentation that is rarely found in today’s popular music.
I believe that just about any musical composer would necessarily be honored with her as an artist to put forth their efforts, considering the work that she normally puts into the vocal interpretations of the songs she sings. And I repeat, when she sings, she is simply remarkable, often exceptionable, and almost always inspiring.
My perception is that Pauline Frechette must be an extraordinarily brilliant, sensitive, and vulnerable person with a huge love for humanity and all that surrounds her. How else would she be empowered to sound so divine!
