Singapore- based EDM Producer Sunerian, who has a preference for Tropical House and Chill Music, has released his 3 track EP entitled “I’m Not Worried”. Sunerian’s EP doesn’t fit the old overnight success adage, which is all for the better—he prefers his bright, electronic melodies drenched in sunlight. Brimming with sun-kissed flavors, the recording hinges on spring-break nostalgia for glistening bronze skin, sand snug between the toes, and young love and lust. It is the perfect September soundtrack for those clinging to the final scraps of summertime. When done right, an artist can invoke nostalgia without losing their purpose or their integrity, and Sunerian strikes this balance by creating something undeniably modern that still harkens back to simpler times.
There’s a poignant realism to the music that resonates with anyone who has felt the emotions of love, desire, and the distance between. With standout tracks like “Delight”, “I’m Not Worried” and “Right Here”, this collection is a radio-ready electronic-dance EP driven both by hope of things to come, and overt happiness in the present.
No matter the listener’s age, the world could use a little more magic—and Sunerian just may be the man to bring it. This recording is an expertly assembled collection of songs that flows impeccably, and to the uninitiated, it serves as the ideal introduction to the lush palette that defines Sunerian.
Unlike so many other EDM or chill recordings this one keeps a delicate balance between melody, harmonies, maintaining a consistent theme and not allowing the listener to become overwhelmed by a beat or by fading into ambient noise. Each melody feels tied together, like telling a story.
That is part of what makes the EP, “I’m Not Worried” so good. Sunerian creates these picturesque songs that all run together in a theme; “Delight” has a definite earthy, playful feel to it. With the use of colorful synths and sparse, but sparkling vocal phrases, it feels vibrant and alive.
“I’m Not Worried”, is very rhythm-driven with a hearty helping of synth work to put it all together into a package that is pleasing to the ear. The track strikes a good balance in terms of its tone and tempo; Sunerian does not attempt to stuff his tracks full of odd musical bits and pieces. Instead the song has a feeling that everything – every instrument used, every note played by those instruments – was carefully crafted and positioned to give the track its feel.
Sunerian’s super-reverberated melody on “Right Here” intertwines with the percussion and bass lines like paint being mixed on a palette until you can’t quite tell what color it is you are looking at. This is just one of those tracks that makes me feel good every time I listen to it. It has a wonderful warmth about it with genuine emotion, and positive energy abounds here.
Electronic albums can sometimes sound sterile and emotionless, but that is not the case here by any means. Somehow I feel relaxed and invigorated at the same time when I listen to this EP. “I’m Not Worried” is easy on the ears and mind, and an absolute pleasure to add to my Tropical House play list.
