The one thing that becomes clear is that Jacko Poli is patently incapable of making sub-standard music, as we watch the video of the song “Dance,” taken from his debut album, “The Chords For No Noise”. This track is yet another sublime, literate and unpredictable Brit-pop masterpiece, brimming with tuneful deviousness, an intelligent arrangement and interesting subject matter.
Jacko Poli who a few months ago featured on our magazine in both a music review and artist interview, in my opinion, is by far and away one of the most promising indie acts in the UK. His music is big, bold, shiny, clever and pure sounding, without ever being sterile. If you enjoy music that the likes of Blur can only dream of making, dip your ears into Jacko’s ocean of sound. “Dance” is a good a place as any to start. Once you’ve begun, you won’t be able to stop, and you’ll be hooked enough to grab a listen to the entire debut album.
Starring a Marilyn Monroe lookalike and sublime dance moves from Vietnam’s number one Michael Jackson moonwalker, the video of “Dance,” also features the likes of an axe-wielding Gene Simmons, a dancing Moustache, an exotic belly dancer, a troop of Indian schoolgirls and an Israeli Reggae Dancer, as well as random performers from USA, Canada, Belgium and Sri Lanka.
So, you’re probably asking if Jacko Poli had a six figure budget for the international line-up on the video? Not at all. All the performances were commissioned through the website fiverr.com., most costing just $5 each.

Marilyn Monroe, US impersonator Emily Rose, who works through fiverr.com as voiceworkpro, could be considered one of the stars of the show. ‘We didn’t have any plans to feature any act more than any other,’ explains Jacko, ‘but some performances stood out. Emily recorded the whole song – we might put it out in its entirety – it’s that good!’
Also of note are the silky moves of Vietnam’s number one Michael Jackson impersonator, Tu Michael. ‘A superb performance – you forget who you are watching, Tu Michael’s dancing is of such an amazing quality, it could be the great man himself.’ commented Jacko.
Produced by UK film makers Studio Lax, again within a tight budget, Jacko Poli certainly has got bang for the buck – and an entertaining, feel-good video to boot.
Though the video definitely adds sparkle and a touch of humor to the song, it would be wise to remember that Jacko Poli above all, impresses with the content of his music. Its humor, sharp intelligence, and vitality as well as it innovative rhythms and melodic twists.
That is exactly what grabbed me, on listening to “The Chords For No Noise,” for the first time. The melody, the harmony, the intelligent lyrics, the most wonderful guitars, bass and drums; and the combination of it all. It is a truly classy, well crafted album.
So enjoy the video…then download the album, for super satisfaction!
