Victor Valdez has rocked from an early age in all styles of music (classical, new wave, disco), but his great love is funk. During his teens, he lived his passion for deejaying; at first for friends, then at various clubs in Paris and abroad. Victor rapidly started producing his own tracks, which he slipped into his sets. This passion led him to a sound engineering school, from which he graduated with one single aim; to compose his own music!
Victor and Max Danton met in 2002. Together they founded a band called New Old Stock, performing many ‘live sets’ with Victor on the decks and Max on machines. During the summer of 2009 the duo met up with Christophe Paris, who along with them, shares the same pop, funk, disco and house music influences. It resulted in the birth of a new band: THE GLIMPS.
Victor Valdez however, continues mixing in Clubs and Private Parties. Some of the remixes he creates for those parties are shared on his webpages.
Victor has just released his brand new single “Please (Give Me One More Chance)” of which there is also a French version. “Please” is a rump-shaking song. It reminds you of those old school funk tunes, with a driving underlying 70’s disco beat. In recent times, only a genius like Jamiroquai has wholly succeeded in reproducing this classic, but yet very modern dance sound.

Considering that I am a Jay Kay fanatic, I can proudly confirm that Victor Valdez has replicated that Jamiroquai magic almost perfectly, including the vocals and catchy chorus lines. Wow, this guy is really good!
This song has a tremendously catchy beat, and the repetition of the chorus line, in a sort of hypnotic fashion, brings a pop element into a mostly funky song. The instrumentation and rhythm on this track is excellent as well, making the overall production and sound mix, absolutely top class.
For the dance-floor fanatics, it doesn’t get any better than this! “Please (Give Me One More Chance)” is an awesome piece of club groove magic. It makes techno and house seem like a boring waltz from the 18th Century. If you’re a fan of disco, funk, rock and everything in between, you’ll love this little bootie-shaking masterpiece.
And, if like me, you’re crazy about Jamiroquai-styled groove music, and trying to find something that compares. You currently won’t find anything closer than “Please (Give Me One More Chance)” by Victor Valdez.
Of course you could save your money and start your own band!
