Accomplished, consummate, multi-talented? How would you describe someone who writes, directs and produces for television and film, as well as being a prolific music composer, songwriter, producer and voting member of the Recording Academy? Well, it would be a lot simpler if you said, St.John.
As a solo artist, St.John has produced music for animated series, web series and feature films, scored and produced 13 CDs for self-help publishing Hay House audiobooks, and released several new age instrumental CDs including his debut album “Cloudwalking” and follow up “Global Symphony”.
St.John also discovered and co-produced the debut album for singer/songwriter Kattail, as wells as producing and directing 4 music videos and a music documentary. He even helped form a band to support Kattail’s dream of performing live at local venues in Los Angeles, including Whisky-A-Go-Go, House of Blues, The Mint and The Viper Room.
St.John, who together with the co-founder of SFN RECORDS, Fisher, has helped develop several rising new artists, this week releases his, “DREAMING – The Remixes” EP and Official Supporting Video.
“DREAMING – The Remixes” features 6 fabulous electronic remix versions of the track “Dreaming” originally written by St.John. The track remixes, namely: “ROCCO Meets The Saint Vocal Mix”, “ROCCO’s Dream”, “Original Version”, “ROCCO Meets The Saint Instrumental”, “Lord Fischer Mix” and “Instrumental”, have all been remixed by Australian musician and producer, ROCCO, whose productions range between classic house, deep, garage and tech house. A law graduate, ROCCO reaps his influences from David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, MK and Murk (Oscar G & Ralph Falcon) amongst many others.
Personally chosen by St.John to sing the lead vocals on “DREAMING”, is Tayla Hadley, a classically trained singer who has performed on stage all around Los Angeles and The Inland Empire as an actor, singer, and dancer. You will immediately adore the versatility of Tayla’s voice, by turns lilting and powerful; with a clarity and delicacy that truly tickles the ears on these tracks.
Tayla’s voice is striking and original and it sounds like the kind of voice you’d hear on multi-layered ethereal arrangements, similar to the sound Enya produces. It has lots of character. The unique thing about Tayla’s voice though, is that it succeeds so beautifully with ROCCO’s truly great electronic beats and St.John’s meticulously melodic arrangements in “Dreaming”.
Yet regardless of how impressive Tayla’s voice is, or how hypnotic ROCCO’s remixes are on “Dreaming”, this is just the icing on the cake! Ultimately it’s the deep and dazzling, original material composed by St.John, that allows for this track to develop into gorgeously infectious up-tempo remixes.
“Dreaming” pairs tender, earnest vocals with some rad electronic beats on a backdrop of celestial, classically inclined undertones, which will almost certainly convince you to search for more compositions by St.John. This is the exact effect this track had on me.
“DREAMING – The Remixes”, is a collection of well-crafted remixes of an original classical gem by St.John, speckled with a those little sonic surprises that make the difference in electronic music. This is definitely worth a close listen, no matter what your favorite genre flavor is.
While you’re about discovering the remixes, don’t’ forget to look out for the supporting video, that too directed by St.John, which promises to be just as stylish and exciting as the EP!
