Hailing from Memphis,TN , Seed is a band that constantly strives to reach their full potential, filling up their music with a really personal charisma – a key factor in their uncompromising blend of hard rock. Their 2013 debut Ep, featuring the single “Stand Up”, is a first taste of what this band can accomplish, relying on a collective 40 years of experience of the band members, who shared the stage with artists such as Avenged Sevenfold, Saliva and Papa Roach, just to name a few.
Seed is a great band that should be getting some more recognition. I heard the hard-hitting and catchy single “Stand Up” so I took a risk and listened to the whole Ep which is available on iTunes. It was definitely a risk well worth it. All of the songs have their own unique sound and good lyrics. I can actually say that every song on the Ep is great and it is one of the rare recordings you can play all the way through and enjoy every song. One of my favorite songs is “By Your Side” as it shows Seed’s ability to go from soft to hard and make it sound tremendously powerful, yet harmonious all the way through. “No Tomorrow” is also an awesome song that follows more or less the same song structure and tone as “By Your Side”.
This Ep is just full of addicting melodies and catchy choruses, not to mention the musicianship on here, which is of course good, strong and tight. The band does a splendid job of taking simple riffs and actually making something out of them. There is a long list of bands that are forming from the alternative rock and pop rock genre. Seed may just be one of the best.

Jacob Harlan – Vocals, Steve Hatmaker – Guitar, Chuck Lirette -Guitar, Jeff Gaubert – Bass, and Donald Price – Drums, make this Ep rock from the first track till the last. There just are no sucky songs to be found here, so you have to be tone deaf not to love the tunes and beats on this one.
The song clips available on the Seed’s website will certainly whet your appetite for more! After listening you will not come away disappointed. Seed’s sound is a perfect mix of hard hitting rock and melodic phrasing. The result is memorable music that moves you without the annoying repetitious after-taste that has become the mainstay of music today. On “Stand Up” these guys prove that they are talented and actually can write a good song.
If you like other rock bands like Seether, Creed, Chevelle or Trapt, you would definitely love these guys, and buying their Ep is really worth the money.
