Rosanne Maria Cathelijne Nobel, in art Rose Nobel, was born in The Netherlands, but is currently living in Barcelona, Spain. She comes from a family of 6 members, including 3 sisters. Rose started an Internet Marketing company in late 2010, but she says she never pictured herself working in this industry when she was a young girl.
She says: “In fact – I wanted to be a bird with huge wings – that could turn into a human every now and then. Or, a pretty princess with blonde long hair. And big curls! A ”Shakira” wig did the trick to really make me happy and feel like a super star. When I was around 7 years old I discovered soul and classic rock & pop music: in that stage I changed my mind about becoming a bird or a princess. I realized it’s singing, that I really want to do…”
At sixteen she stopped going to school and started with an evening education. Rose continues: “ The problem wasn’t my head, the problem was my soul. I found my consolation in writing lyrics, and thinking up melodies. Life has a funny way of developing itself while we live it. Some events we get to choose for, but many events just cross our paths. It’s our choice how we handle these events…”
Rose has had the desire to make music for many years. But it was only recently that she grew the necessary willpower to want to achieve everything she longed for. Rose Nobel writes all her own lyrics and composes the original accompanying musical arrangements using computer software. Her style covers the Pop, RnB and Soul genres.
Rose doesn’t yet have an official single or album release, but her website has more than a handfull of very promising demo tracks (which can also be found on YouTube). Though we were advised to checkout her latest demo “Strange Things”, we couldn’t help but listen to the other available tracks, to get a clearer picture of this 22-year-old lady’s talent.
Her sonic portrait is of a young woman who is gentle, elegant, alluring, positive, and down-to-earth. She owns her voice, in a way that many others don’t. Especially in this era of The Voice, X-Factor and American Idol, where every singer wants to always hit that glory note just for extra effect. Rose’s voice stays clear, crisp, strong, and flowing. Her songs don’t just revolve around the bridge build-up, before the banging choruses. Her songs are all-encompassing experiences. In “Strange Things” she even succeeds in combining the playful coyness of Amy Winehouse with the swaggering confidence of Aretha Franklin.
The other songs are excellent, too. Rose has an amazing, soulful voice while her lyrics are strong and solid, never repeating themselves. Every song is original and unique. Reading her life story so far, Rose comes across as a very positive role model and her music beautifully captures her moods and experiences. I particularly loved the songs, “Turn Around” and “Unreal” even in their raw, stripped down, demo versions.
Rose Nobel is a true songwriting and singing talent. What she needs now is a professional arranger and producer able to give her music the wings and direction to soar to the heights her crystal clear talent deserves and desires!
