Launched in May 2013, in time for last year’s CMAO Awards – for which he was nominated in several categories including Male Artist and Album Of The Year – and featuring the single and title track, “One Of These Days”, Canadian Country Artist Marshall Dane’s latest album puts life back in to the swing of things, driven by a swirling blast of fabulous melodies that gives you a country rush right from the get-go.
“One Of These Days’ is about how I deal with the curves life throws,” says Marshall. “It’s not really about where I’ve been but more so about where I am now…where I wanna go…and how I’m gonna get there, wherever ‘there’ is.“
One of These Days, recently #1 on the Roots Music Report Pop Country chart, has country in its veins, topped up with doses of rock, pop and a side helping of soul. The album has earned Marshall two more CMAO Award Nominations in 2014 and 3 Independent Country Music Association Award Nominations. In August 2014, Marshall also received 4 International Music and Entertainment Association Award nominations. Recorded in London, Ontario in June of 2012, One Of These Days is the follow-up to Marshall’s successful Running Stop Signs, released in 2010.
Marshall Dane is a master at writing country music that rocks, and his music is the epitome of what every country singer should strive for: great songs, good musicianship, and great lyrics that make you want to sing and dance, have fun, or cry over a broken heart. “Take You Home To Mama” is the album’s first track and is aptly named. It starts off from a seemingly far away distance and then creeps into a honky-tonk roar. The arrangement and delivery of the song are as unique as it is fun.
“I’ll Be Your Whiskey” features some rock and roll choruses that will raise the hairs on the back on your neck. “Till I Get To You” can easily become an anthem for any guy looking for that special girl. “Not Today” is slow, deep and meaningful as well as being powerful and melodic. And this is all before we even get to the 3 back-to-back standout gems like “One Of These Days”, “Living It Up” and “How Do I Get There From Her”.
What sets Marshall Dane apart from other country singers is he not only about his voice, but his passion and delivery. This man performs with passion and you can feel it. If you’re a fan of this genre of music and haven’t listened to Marshall Dane then you’re missing something!
Marshall Dane is not shy about breaking the boundaries of country music either. “One Of These Days”, is loud, rocking, and very personal. Marshall shows us that he can be a rock-star and a pure, down home Country boy at the same time. His music has a perfect mix of loud guitars, superb vocals, and bar-room burners. This is one of the best crossover Country albums of the year! Highly recommended!!!
