ManBearPimp: “Zooty Cru EP” bridges the gap between rich beat-induced rhythms and ambient sounds

Electronic music producer and DJ, ManBearPimp is a college student from Miami, Florida, who was born in Lima, Peru. He currently studies and performs in Baltimore, Maryland. MBP is recognized for his adoption of unconventional sounds into his tracks and the varied mix of genre influences that take effect on his music. When he isn’t dropping bangers at your typical college party, MBP has a keen ear for richly textured design and beautiful uplifting sounds. With an alter-ego, experimenting solely on cross-genre production under his wing (Auggie Aulinz), it’s clear that there is no telling what the next release will bring.

In this instance, the next release has brought the “Zooty Cru EP”. A 4-track walk across Chill, Trap, Hiphop and Bass n’ Drum grooves, as interpreted by MBP. The easiest part of this EP for a listener is deciphering the musical expressions of his style and relating to them on an emotional level. That is why “Zooty Cru EP” is perfect for any open-minded electronic fan.

In this EP, MBP bridges the gap between the sounds of rich beat-induced electronic music with the subtle complexities of ambient textures. When chronicling “Zooty Cru EP”, you’ll notice there is an obvious evolution from simple beats and melodies to more complex programming works.

In a world where everyday music numbs the mind of even the simplest individual, this work awakens the soul and inspires some new thoughts. People disappear, problems vanish, and we are left with an everlasting joy that creativity is not dead.

Simple, yet powerful composition of sounds, a variety of sound that has its own beautiful rhythms that is so hard to find anywhere else. You may think the beats are exactly the same when you hear them for the first time, but turn up the volume and you’ll notice that each note is selected carefully to complement each other.

The “Zooty Cru EP” is solid all the way through. I don’t even dream of skipping a track. The melodies are in the foreground, as for example on “Should 1” and “3000”, giving the songs a stronger and ‘easier’ appeal. That said, these tracks do not lack depth in any way, they are simply more accessible.

The rhythms are very clever and never overbearing, which makes a very good starting point for people getting to know ManBearPimp. Its soundscape has no qualms with repeating itself to reinforce tiny details of the big picture. For anyone who can sit and just stare into the deep and dark abyss of the ocean or the endlessly beautiful, blue skyline for hours, “Zooty Cru EP” is an expression of that vast, contrasting and inspiring experience.

My favorite track is without out a doubt the funky Daft Punk-inspired, “Auggie Aulinz – Should 1 (feat. ManBearPimp)”. On this EP, substantial, ever-developing electro rhythms form a solid foundation where beautiful melodies thrive. Give this a listen!
