On Friday, June 27, Junior Turner releases yet another single, the immensely enjoyable, “Tonight’s The Night”. Turner is a rather prolific singer-songwriter having released a host of hit, pop-orientated singles and albums into the worldwide indie music circuit over the last two years. He has performed with some of the best musicians in the industry as well as scooping up numerous awards along the way since 2010. Not least the ‘Best Pop Song’ award received at the prestigious awards ceremony for ‘The Indie Music Channel’, In April this year.
“Tonight’s The Night” is a smooth, passionate, and soulful tune with vibrant lyrics, driven with Junior Turner’s inimitable vocals. His voice is mixed with a delicious retro soul groove, a sexy horn section and some tasty guitar parts. Truly an alchemy that has been lacking on the radio rotation lists of recent!
Short but sweet, this single is beyond words. And five stars don’t do it justice. I’ve been a fan since Junior’s first release and have had the pleasure of reviewing just about every single and album thereafter. No doubt he just keeps on getting better. If you’re a fan, you already know, if you are new to Junior Turner, this is a great place to start.
Throughout his musical career so far, Junior has tackled a wide range of styles and always succeeds in making them his own. But then again, you could listen to him singing the phone book and be mesmerized by that vibrantly resonating voice, accompanied by some very fine musicians who give the songs interest and life. If you’re a true Turner fan, you’ll appreciate “Tonight’s The Night”, as he gives a nod to the soulful Motown sound.
Junior Turner is a great artist and his voice will grow on you. Be sure to check out his earlier works too, because it is so darn good! You’ll never tire of Junior’s songs and probably end up playing them endlessly for years. That’s simply because Junior’s music is based on the classic, time-tested formula used by the pop legends, MAM, or rather ‘mind-about-melody’.
Beats go to your feet, until you wear them out, good melody gets stuck in your mind…just about forever. Few indie artists know how to twist and tame a pop melody like Junior Turner!
