Junior Turner has been featured in our magazine on numerous occasions and I’d be surprised if any of you don’t remember his track record, but just in case, we’ll fill you in again. Junior’s major breakthrough came in 2011 when he penned a track called “Say Goodbye” and released it to radio for airplay. In due course he received a phone call from war veteran’s charity “Help for Heroes” co-founder Bryn Parry asking if they could use this song for their charity. In April 2011 Junior Turner released Say Goodbye in support of Help for Heroes.
In 2012 he recorded his first ever official 1radio UK newcomers chart number 1 single with ‘Loveblind featuring Jess Wood’. He then went on to follow that up with a further 2 1radio number 1 singles with ‘Sweet Love’ & a Christmas and ‘Hurt featuring Robbie Williams guitarist Neil Taylor’.
In November 2012 he released his eagerly anticipated ‘critically acclaimed’ debut album ‘Under Scrutiny’. In 2013 he followed it up with the release of ‘Better Day’ which has had rave reviews both here in the UK & in the USA. It went No.1 in the official newcomers chart in Austin, Texas USA, as well as topping the top 20 chart in New Jersey USA for 3 weeks.
Junior Turner followed this up with yet another self-penned track titled ‘Natural & Nice’ telling the tale of how one’s self confidence levels when magnified can come one’s self destruction. This has recently topped the official UK unsigned chart.

Junior’s 3rd single of 2013 was a different genre, country-type track titled ‘Hurricane’; which again received rave reviews worldwide and currently stands at number 1 in the New Jersey, USA chart as well as topping a radio chart in Scotland, UK.
Consistently used to being number one, it is no surprise that Junior is one of the first artists to release a Xmas song for the upcoming 2013 festive season. Its Christmas Time(So let’s celebrate) is the title of the tune which will be released through iTunes, Amazon and Spotify on the 2nd of December 2013.
I suppose it’s a matter of taste, but I love Junior’s voice and he once again sounds amazing on this Christmas single, which makes make an incredible showcase for his versatile vocals. I don’t usually like Xmas music and never buy any, as I find it too melancholy and somber for my taste, but Junior turns the trend with a swinging, upbeat, number to fill your heart with cheerful joy!
There is indeed a certain quality to Junior Turner’s voice that sets him apart from other vocalists. His voice resonates and is crystal clear; embellishing the music in all the appropriate places. Junior puts a modern spin on Its Christmas Time (So let’s celebrate), but maintains the traditional feel of the Xmas classics, while still injecting his own unique flavor into the tune. That’s a tough balancing act to pull off for anybody.
Its Christmas Time(So let’s celebrate), turned out to be a surprise. Fun, upbeat and catchy, this song of the Christmas spirit’s ability to transform everyone who gives into it, is certainly enjoyable. The clarity and purity of Junior Turner’s vocal lends the song an almost heart-rending quality – for all its simplicity, the song is a showstopper. A sure Christmas playlist topper!
