Jenny`s Vision is a multinational independent music project initiated during the summer of 2012. The project uses guest vocalist`s, artists and musicians from Los Angeles, Hollywood, Canada, France and Norway. The project is universal, both in, genre`s and musicians. The primary base of the project is in Norway, where Jenny`s Vision produce Pop, Rock, Adult Contemporary and Funk. The project members’ state: “For us genre is a word, only a word. We cross the border, and make songs as we like them.”
Recently we had the pleasure of listening to a couple of tracks produced by Jenny`s Vision Project. And right off the cuff we were impressed as Jenny`s Vision Project’s unmistakable talents raises the quality of music above the mundane rabble of today’s pop music. The sound is essentially based on the 80’s pop-rock era where melody ruled over all else, in song arrangements. The first track in question we heard by Jenny`s Vision Project was “Angels”, a heart tearing ballad full of emotion delivered with feeling, power and a sophisticated arrangement.
The songwriting members of Jenny`s Vision Project obviously know their way around chord progressions and song structures. “Angels” is a clever piano-driven pop-ballad which moves through verses, bridges and choruses in a minimal, clean and tight arrangement that relies on atmospheric breakdowns and build-ups, drenched in melody and sweet harmonies. The pitch-perfect, crystal clear vocals obviously enhance the song’s high standard of quality and without a doubt endear the listener.
But Jenny`s Vision Project are full of surprises. Which I quickly discover when stumbling on the track, “Touch The Light”. As they swing straight from a sweet ballad, right into a big drumbeat, overdriven guitars and mid-tempo rocking rhythm. Yet through all the intense crunchiness they never lose that polished radio-ready sound, which seems to be a prerogative of Scandinavian artists and production teams in general. Though all totally different in genre and intent, the quality and catchy Northern European productions of Roxette, The Cardigans, Plan Three, Röyksopp, Mr Little Jeans, Fallulah and The Hives quickly come to mind.
It is clear that Jenny`s Vision Project know how to write straightforward, potentially chart-topping pop songs. You can hear it in their choruses, in the clean, crisp production, and in the way their songs are carefully pieced together, with interesting twists and turns and clever little touches that make the music connect with the listener.
Above all,on the tracks we heard, Jenny`s Vision Project showcases a female vocalist that has a wonderfully powerful, easily recognizable voice that contains just the right mix of childlike wonder and gritty realism. Listen to the introspective addictiveness of the piano-ballad “See Me”, if you need convincing. If you have any real interest in modern popular music, you need to add this to your collection!
