Combining the talents of a lyricist and producing, Filipino rapper jCrizzy is representing Northern California’s Bay Area with an organic Hip-Hop sound. “Dream”, is a single off of jCrizzy’s most recent project “Late Night Shift”. Of the song and album, JCrizzy and says: “It is a very human depiction of the everyday struggles we all go through. It also delves into his past and the path it took to get here. We all have stories to tell, and we’ve all lived through many things in this complex life. This song and the whole album focus on the lighter side of life, the things we do to ‘let go’.”
There may be MCs with more enlightened or deeper content to their rhymes than jCrizzy. There have also been a few (though not many) with a more distinct delivery and perhaps one or two with a more natural flow. But for sheer, unadulterated rhyming skill…there’s hardly anyone that can touch jCrizzy.
Just listening to the smooth, laidback, yet relentless and incendiary verses of “Dream” is enough to blow you straight off your feet. Accompanying jCrizzy absolutely unparalleled talent for rhymes is a penchant for sharp-witted, hard-hitting lyrics – which is a deadly combination.
The beat has an old school jazzy feel to it with a nice touch of sophistication which does not crowd jCrizzy flow, and the lyrics are just perfect; simple, but at the same time extremely clever and most of all very thought provoking. jCrizzy proves that you don’t have to use big words to induce big emotions.
jCrizzy is not a stupid rapper cussing and saying mean things about people. Instead this is a guy talking about real life taken from his own personal lifestyle tabloids. Everything works on “Dreams” – the lyrics, the beat and the rhyming flow.
