Cincinnati hip hop artist, J-Sheetz is more than an artist and a producer he is a representation of life. In 2010 he released his first full album titled “33 Degrees of Cannibalism”. During 2012 J-Sheetz released the mixtape titled “Fuck You” and then his album “Hello World”. J-Sheetz has done many shows on a local and national level, opening up for acts including, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Tech N9ne, Lil Wyte, Jelly Roll and many more.
Now J-Sheetz has dropped his latest eighteen-track mixtape titled, “No Big Deal”. He is truly a progressing artist, expanding his horizons as a lyricist and has already supported big dog acts. J-Sheetz has kept his fire breathing lyrics 100% pure from “33 Degrees of Cannibalism” until now. When I pressed track-one on “No Big Deal”, it was the only time I touched the dial. It ran all the way to 18 before I touched it again…to run the album back again!
Looking across the current underground Hiphop scene, you realize that J-Sheetz is a giant among dwarfs. He is more than head high above everyone else right now. All his production is on point, the subject matter is not questionable, and even if it is, he makes it his own. All his features came on and tear it up, while his songs are backed up by truly creative videos. Probably the only thing that may (and I emphasize, ‘may’) hold J-Sheetz from breaking it into mainstream big-time, is that the dude’s totally explicit and never holds his tongue back. But then again if Lil’Wayne could break the bigot barrier, then the sky’s the limit for J-Sheetz too. Question is, does J-Sheetz want, or even need the mainstream flow?
If you put J-Sheetz’ songs on a playlist with other songs and hit random then you’ll hear that lyrically, he is just way ahead of the curve and it’s going to be a while before the dwarfs get up close to this. J-Sheetz shows every rapper old and new how to hit really hard while keeping your chin up with a smile on your face.
Ludicrous to somber, his storytelling delivers a myriad of perspectives. From Blame It On The Whisky Ft Trademark Aaron, Fuck You Too and This Is My Life, to Serve These Chickens Like Lee Ft Marty Scars, Nothing New Ft Tone P, Kiss My Ass Ft Pry Tha Great and Long Way Home Ft Corbett, J-Sheetz shows his wide range of artistic talent in everything from varying rhyme speeds to the diverse beats he spits over and ultimately the messages he delivers.
Bottom Line – “No Big Deal” is another incredible CD from a talented and hardworking independent artist. If you are a long time J-Sheetz fan or even if you are stumbling across him for the first time, one thing is for sure; you will enjoy this album as J-Sheetz has really outdone himself here!
