ESP Evolution: “We Can Kick It” creates an infectious, sensual and uplifting buzz!

In 2010 producer Overdose, who has produced for artist such as Tank, Aaliyah, E40, Mac 10 and others formed ESP Evolution. Overdose along with lead singer-songwriter Lady Capri collaborated on ESP Evolution to bring an infusion of pop, rock, hip hop, r&b and some reggae. ESP Evolution has had the pleasure of playing many of LA’s top venues like Whisky a Go Go, House of Blues Sunset, House of Blues Anaheim, Molly Malone’s and a host of others. Other than Overdose and Lady Capri, the ESP Evolution project boasts collaboration efforts from Arnell Cooper – Keyboards, Keir – Bass, Mischa Finch – Vocals and Sir. Stringfellow – Drums.

ESP Evolution’s song “Rasta Movement” reached #24 on the FMQB Top 40/AC Top 200 Chart, as of 8/5/2015, and now the group is releasing their latest track, “We Can Kick It” off the “From Crib to Coliseum” album. The track has a pop vocal carefully woven over a crossover reggae-dancehall type rhythm. Conjuring up a sensuously playful and vibrant sound image, as ESP Evolution blatantly ask you to “kick it, stick it or lick it…”, and quite frankly I’m not sure if you can, or even want to resist!

“We Can Kick It” creates an infectious, uplifting buzz, without forcing the vocals or even the rhythms, both of which flow smoothly and is very easy on the ear. It even sounds too mellow and chilled-out for its genre at times, until the lead solo kicks in, and you realize that ESP Evolution stick to the ultra-cool side of their crossover style on this track.

Hidden inside the 3 plus minutes of “We Can Kick It”, lie traces of unexploded energy with an attitude, as the boy beckons, “Do you wanna dance with me?” Then the girl replies something like: “I just want to party for one night. I have no interest in being your wife.” Now if that’s not attitude, then tell me what is!

If you have never heard of ESP Evolution, then you are really tripping. However not to worry as “We Can Kick It” is as good a place as any to get started!
