Dr Wippit’s website reads something like this; No one is a hundred percent sure where the Dr came from. Some say he’s always been there. As far as he knows that’s true. If you’ve ever seen Chronic Jaywalker, David Acidy’s Jerking Monkeys, Nova Brain, Stalemate, The Kenilworth Project, Hungry Ghost, or Tastes Like Chicken you know he brings it. He don’t have time to phone it in you feel me?
Straight off, you know that the Dr ain’t no ordinary musician and maybe just a touch offbeat!
If you like reggae, it’s there. If you like ska, it’s there. if you like hip-hop, it’s there. If you like punk, it’s there. If you like blues, surf music, and even rock, it’s all there, waiting for you to hit play. Dr Wippit attempts to fuse so many styles together on his collection of songs, it will take you on a time warp, but bearing in mind he has a 25 experience-span, we shouldn’t be surprised at all.
The sounds obviously range from gritty garage-band productions to energetic digital mixes, as Dr Wippit reworks his extensive catalog and records some new stuff, using the current digital recording techniques available.
With smooth and funky flowing beats, excellent guitar sounds, both acoustic and electric, along with spirited fresh lyrics, the Dr shows that he is somewhat of a musical genius when it comes to mixing and mashing styles.

Not unlike many famous painters, Dr Wippit draws his inspiration from a wide palate of choices. His music delves into many different genres, including surf, dub reggae, punk, hip-hop, funk and heavy rock. A lot of people may catch themselves humming one of the Dr’s insanely catchy tunes, all without realizing how privileged they are to hear such music, coming from an artist that self produces and records their albums, probably somewhere between their bedroom and living room.
In order to get recognized on the underground circuit, a band must have a gimmick to distinguish themselves from other bands. Dr Wippit’s gimmick has to be his diverse inspiration drawn from oh so many styles…and obviously that damn name!
In the 23 songs, I heard over at the Dr Wippit website, its clear that he puts together music that is listenable for anyone. The Dr is arguably one of the most novel, original acts around the web today. He shows the world that rock still exists out of the pre-fabricated corporate music world.
If you’ve never listened to Dr Wippit, you don’t know what you’re missing, and if you don’t find out, it will truly be a mistake. Songs like, “Never Again,” “Cry Like A Child,” “Meadow,” “It’s On You” and “Pocket Of Hope” will leave you wanting more and wondering why he’s not on a major label with some solid sound production.
Dr Wippit’s collection of songs will speak to just about everyone who listens to it. I would highly recommend his songs to anyone who can appreciate great creative music. Don’t expect sonically perfect productions or crystal-clear error free takes though, as this is not what the Dr’s collection is about.
Dr Wippit delivers unexpected lyrics combined with funking rock tunes, resulting in a arrangements that will not disappoint!
