Adam Astbury is a Singer/Songwriter based in Harrogate. His first studio album ‘We All Fall Down’ was released on November 7th 2011. Following the success of the release, both singles ‘Pretty Little Lying Eyes’ and ‘Give Up The Ghost’ were aired on BBC Introducing, where he went on to give an interview and perform an acoustic set live on BBC York with Jenny Eells.
Adam is currently gearing up for the release of his second studio album ‘From Here We Can See Forever’, which will be released on the 9th December 2013. We got a preview of the album and I can say that Adam Astbury is an impressive artist that truly baffles me with his remarkable sincerity. The album is made of simplistic music, yet every time I listen, it bewilders me how lavish, and solid the music is. Every sound is altogether in harmony and balance. Furthermore it equips Adam and his songs in the absolute best way possible.
Adam’s voice is unbelievable; his range is great, his intonation and phrasing are perfect and his heart is always exposed in his tunes. I can’t find anything wrong with this album which astonishes me. I’ve listened to ‘From Here We Can See Forever’ obsessively off and on for days at a time always fully expecting to get sick of it, but I never do!

Each and every song can solidly stand alone and yet holistically, the album is painstakingly and exhaustively gorgeous. You will like this if you appreciate clever songwriting with an attention to both coherent melody and some harmonic originality. The instrumentation creates a smooth, pleasant sound, with the acoustic guitar playing a major part in the soothing wash-over effect.
This album exudes a sense of completeness and coherence that I haven’t heard for a long while in Brit-Pop. We have become too comfortable with sloppy albums, where a great number of them produce multiple hits, but very few lend any sense that the album is anything more than a collection of songs. ‘From Here We Can See Forever’ does just that. It’s like a good novel instead of a good collection of short stories, and by the end you won’t be able to help wanting to start it again.
The thirteen tracks, with my favorites being, “Living In Colour”, “This Has All Got To End”, “Vaccine”, “Waves”, “Stolen Stars”, “Making Rain Clouds”, and “I Guess It’s Over Now”, will all mesmerize and captivate you. All the way through, Adam delves into lush multi textured soundscapes and you can hear something new in each song, with every listen.
Adam Astbury is great, the album is full of excellent tunes, and in fact there aren’t any I don’t like. ‘From Here We Can See Forever’ has some rocking tunes, some mellow tunes, and some uplifting tunes. I haven’t stopped listening to this album since I got it and it would be safe to say it’s on my top 10 list for this year. Go for this album and you won’t be disappointed!
