Anna Pena covers Taylor Swift’s “Style”
Singer-songwriter and model Anna Pena is back with her latest round of music covers from some of today’s biggest stars. Her musical covers like that of Taylor Swift’s “Style” have helped her garner thousands of views and a loyal fan following. The Dallas, Texas native has been performing since she was ten and is a trained musician, actress, and performance artist. Her forthcoming debut EP is slated to be released later this summer.
Taylor Swift’s sound definitely changed since her “Red” album came out, going from a folksy, country sound to a more mainstream upbeat 80’s pop-synth sound on “Style”. Anna Pena takes that sound and cuts it down to the minimum, allowing her voice to be accompanied by an acoustic piano. The result is a heartfelt rendition of the popular hit-song, which Anna sings in crystal clear tones all awash with tenderly-sweet emotions.
The song, about a relationship between the singer-girl and specific boy, explains that no matter what is done and how far apart the two drift, they always seem to get back together and their relationship will last forever, even when the girl knows that to be far from the truth, but the boy’s charm and charisma gets the best of her. Anna Pena’s performance perfectly captures the emotional nuances of the lyrics, as she makes the song her own.
Music is a subjective thing to anyone’s ears, some may like a certain sound or song better than someone else, others may think it’s understood in a certain context etc., but whether you like this particular track or not, you can’t deny a well-crafted song when you hear one, and Anna Pena’s version of “Style” is certainly well-crafted.
Anna Pena sounds totally different but totally like herself in any of the songs she covers, and she has covered many of our modern-day pop divas – from Sia to Ariana Grande and Katy Perry to Kelly Clarkson. In-between, she has also found time to come up with some originals, which hopefully will be on her upcoming EP.
I am curious to see how Anna Pena is about to evolve with the immense singing talent she has at her disposable.
