Breathe feat. Veela – (Original Mix) is the second electro track produced by RAY.VS for his upcoming EP, Analogue Monologue.
There is a lot of attention given to composition and arranging here. Gimmicks are almost completely absent, a stark contrast with the surprisingly pervasive dance music with which many Americans are familiar. Compared to that category, Breathe feat. Veela is awash with emotion, subtle effects, and a careful application of symmetry and walls of synth sounds.
Breathe feat. Veela is not really a vocal track with verses and a chorus, as such, but rather an instrumental punctuated with some ethereal vocal samples by Veela. Contrasting the vocally intoxicating bits are the emotional synth washes that run across the track. Not allowing for one single dull moment.
In my opinion, RAY.VS is superior to many of his contemporaries in the EDM scene. The combination of both technical expertise and great songcraft really makes you take notice, when listening to Breathe feat. Veela. You can tell that RAY.VS really applied his workmanship. He “gets” it, he knows what works: the song has great synth hooks and is really well put together.
This track acts as a breath of fresh air for the EDM community. Although there is definitely a time and place for the massive amounts of four-to-the-floor vocal tracks being pumped out right now, it’s great to have a tune that pushes all those barriers aside while still sounding amazingly energetic and catchy.
RAY.VS utilizes simple tools to create complex, emotionally powerful movements. His original mix is creative, well-planned and executed perfectly in a unique amalgam of his self-signatured prowess. If you are a fan of any form of EDM, I highly recommend giving Breathe feat. Veela a listen.
