New York based recording and performing artist, Levantay has released her latest single, “beYOUtiful”, which will be featured on her upcoming EP BRAVE GIRL. Levantay originally wrote the song a few years back, after her niece had told her that she didn’t feel beautiful and that everyone at school thought she was different. This statement broke Levantay’s heart, inspiring her to write a powerfully uplifting song which is an anthem to just ‘being who you are’.
A few years later this song took on an even more personal meaning for Levantay, as she decided to move away from her producer after 8 years of working together. Listening to the song again, Levantay says she realized then that true beauty meant stepping out of the boxes that other people had created for her and living her own truth.
Listening to “beYOUtiful”, I can only believe that she is a classic diamond in the rough. She empowers women to be all that they can be and to know that they can do it. She tells people they must take steps, to step out there and do it. The song is especially relevant for young ladies who are coming into their own as Levantay tells them not to be fearful of whom they really are but to embrace their own futures. I give the lady her props because she can blow. You can hear and feel the passion, emotion, and experience in her voice.
Levantay continually impresses, lyrically and melodically throughout this upbeat but heartfelt, genuinely great track. The more I listen to “beYOUtiful” the more I hear different things in the song that cause me to love it more and more. It is clear, from what, and the way she sings, that Levantay is a maturing young woman who has found her own passion, her own flow and is standing in her own space…and just being fully and completely, herself. And she advises everyone else to do the same!
This is exactly what “beYOUtiful” brings to the table; the inspiration to continue to better yourself without feeling as if you are doing the wrong thing…just because it’s your own thing!

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Levantay was featured as an emerging artist at the 2011 Caribbean Music Conference in N.Y. and selected as New, Now, Next artist for Carib Gold 2012. She is former Miss Jamaica NY (2006), first Runner-Up Miss Jamaica USA Pageant. Levantay honed her artistic skills at the Ashe Caribbean Performing Art Academy & the Brooklyn College Ensemble.
