Jordan Antonia exemplifies talent, drive, and passion that will make her someone you’ll want to know, a voice you’ll have to hear, and face you’ll need to see. She’s the total package. This is evident just by watching how time freezes when she walks into a room, how ears perk when her amazingly addictive sound booms through the speakers, and how eyes light up when she flashes that gorgeous smile. Jordan is not just a name to remember. She’s a name that you will find impossible to forget.
Jordan Antonia’s latest single “Bayou Boogie” blends elements of Swing, RnB, and a hint of ShowTime Jazz, ready to breakout on Broadway!
The result is a shape-shifting piece of music from Jordan. It also sets out its vision as a radical sidestep from her defining club and urban pop sound, heard on previous tracks like “A.D.D. Of The Heart” or “Unavailable”.
To evolve you have to change and grow, and that’s exactly what Jordan Antonia’s latest track gives us – growth and change. Her voice is raw, filled with emotion and she seems to be expressing herself from her soul. Not to mention the amount of groove she pours into the song.
The harmonies are flawless and take the song to another level. This is a great summer jam and every time I hear it, I imagine carloads of cool dudes driving around with the windows wound down, blasting it and singing along. It has an old school soul feel to it and just makes you feel so happy.
Sexy horns accent Jordan’s vocals for much of the song, while the old era influence within the production and vocal arrangements sound stripped straight from the 40s or 50s. The track is vaguely reminiscent of Cristina Aquilera’s retro-swing on “Candyman”, which ignited a definite buzz on its release some years back.
Overall I think “Bayou Boogie” is Jordan Antonia’s strongest work to date. As a whole I was very satisfied and impressed with this track. Vocally Jordan brings it on while never faltering along the way. The production is also great with its throwback sounds, and rollicking bombastic attitude.
Lots of old school soul-throwback jams have been produced in the recent past, but Jordan Antonia has given this one a real authentic feel and vibe that will no doubt pay off dividends in the end.
