Indie Anthems Vol. 9: The WiFi PR Group, releases the latest installment in their respected indie series

When music fans and industry tastemakers look for new artists to add to their rosters and playlists, they often turn to industry-curated indie compilations to find up-and-coming artists recognized by the media, record labels and PR companies. One of the up and coming curators of this sought-after kind of compilation, is without a doubt the WiFi PR Group, who has released its digital mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 9, the latest installment in their respected indie series.

While most mixtapes, particularly for independent artists, are created for music fans alone, WiFi PR curated the Indie Anthems series to suit the attention and agendas of those who are on the pulse of what’s next in the world of music. These are the people who shape the landscape of popular culture today and predict the trends that are coming next.

Indie Anthems Vol. 9 introduces a wide variety of artists and genres including acoustic, electronica, alternative, blues, hip-hop indie, pop, punk, reggae, rock and soul, as well as the newly coined “vaporware” genre, showcased by emerging artist, Saint Pepsi on the track, “Tonight”.

 Indie Anthems Vol. 9 plays like a colorful patchwork, as various tracks are brought together to form a much larger musical design. There is Savant (“Rise Up”) to South Korean electronica artist, HEO (“Luna”). You will also find Swiss folk-pop princess, Ursina and singer-songwriter Marty O’Reilly (“Cold Canary Gaslight”).

But the WiFi PR Group digs even deeper on this latest installment of Indie Anthems Vol. 9. Tune your ears to Israeli psychedelic surf pop band, RPS Surfers (“IGaza”) or the progressive hard rock of Parole Perse (“Labyrinth”). If you like things a little racier, then try the punk-rock band Royal Red Brigade (“20/20”) or even the eclectic rock instrumental by The Mica Project (“Rats With Wings”).

Get rhythmically melodic with The Sun And The Moon (“Geneva”), or chill out to the laidback but catchy Kai Killion (“Drip”).   Maybe you’ll just like the jangling acoustic guitar sound of Chicago singer-songwriter Kevin Carling (“Ghost”) and the reggae-influenced rhythms by Silva (“Move Out”). If you’re club orientated then hook onto SirensCeol (“Feel Alright”) and Trinity Ward (“Mayak”).

Either way though. It’s hard not to find a track, or artist, on Indie Anthems Vol. 9 that suits your musical taste buds. It is the sort of album you could expect to hear down at the student union bar with a range of songs to cover all bases for even the most fussy of critics. It is a top class indie compilation, with a perfect mix of unknown gems.

You get loads of albums of mixed artists, but never as good as the Indie Anthems series. It is refreshing to be able to listen to the whole album without skipping through any of the tracks. If indie is your bag then you could do a lot worse than picking up this cracker of an album!
