Platnum Statuss is a 23 year old Melodic Lyricist/Songwriter born in South West London (Tooting). Platnum spent his formidable years living in various parts of London before moving to the Southern coast of Brighton aged 11 where he grew up before moving to Essex in recent years. No stranger to music having spent many summer holidays in “2 DEEP” Recording Studio with “Tony Ra” and his Uncle “Ricky Sprakett AKA Ricman” Platnum spent many days among senior DJ’s and local Artists in Brixton.
He was first handed the microphone at the age of 9. Having heard his rendition “Tony Ra Recording Producer and Studio owner” advised him to keep writing, stick to it and finish his education. Aged 13-14 Platnum became a member of the group “Sickness Legion” as a Grime MC where he played a large part of the mix CD released “Name Behind The Reputation”.
Coming up to his 16th Birthday he decided to pursue music even further, he wanted to know the ins and outs of his passion and studied a degree in Music Business/Music Technology as his core subject.
” It’s all well and good being able to sing or rap but I wanted to go that bit further and hone in on the music business so I could have in-depth creative knowledge of how the industry worked , I’m always looking to come up with fresh new sounds”.
By the age of 18. Platnum had musically matured and changed his style to a more artistic sound with influences from R’n’B, Hip-Hop, Dance and Pop with a smoother sleek style where he released “By My Side” (2007) and “Dance In The Club” (2010) which both had great coastal support and helped to build his fan base greatly.
Having spent the last 6 years seriously writing, making numerous appearances locally in Worthing, Brighton, Essex, London night clubs and parties, he has been featured on BBC Introducing (BBC Essex) PlayVybz FM and Upfront Magazine. 2013 will be a busy year for him.
