The AUDIOMONKEYS are a ‘family’ of 4 musicians almost totally diverse in influences and styles, who bring together a crunchy, hard-hitting hard rock sound infused with grooving soul power. They play gritty, stomping rock n roll with a swagger and natural approach that other bands would die for. Add in the authentically stunning soul and blues styled vocals – sometimes sympathetic, sometimes angry, always empathic – and you have a powerhouse of a band just waiting to explode into full bloom!
The AUDIOMONKEYS get that chance on their latest release, “Hope She’ll Be Happier”. A cover of the song made famous by the legendary Bill Withers. The track lends itself perfectly to the hefty power chords, the gentle guitar-picking interludes, and the gorgeously slow build-ups supported by the soul-searching vocals, which have the ability to knock your senses backward. This band proves to be truly one of a kind!
In an age when rock, rap and corporate rock machines dominate the radio waves, it is easy to accept the notion that truly great, emotive rock music is all but gone away. But just as we are about to turn out the lights on rock music, the AUDIOMONKEYS deliver something worth listening to.
“Hope She’ll Be Happier” defines the AUDIOMONKEYS as a band who can draw from their own individual influences and those of past masters, without delivering merely derivative rock. The band manages to craft a cover song, combined with a myriad of influences into something that winds up sounding completely and wholly original.
The AUDIOMONKEYS are able to make the listener both dig for true meaning while at the same slapping them in the face with raw, literal powerhouse emotion. The cover of the classic “Hope She’ll Be Happier”, could have proved a daunting task for any band, considering the source material and original performer. However, this ruggedly emotional version contains many high points and absolutely no low ones, for a band, that has probably not yet received the attention it definitely deserves!
