Teacher Preacher: “Tales of an Appalachian King” is mostly comprised of creative, innovative rhymes and beats!

With over 10 years in the music industry Teacher Preacher is a seasoned underground veteran who has worked with major artists in the past, such as Bonecrusher and Goodie Mobb. Teacher Preacher originates from down deep in the bosom of the well-known peach state (Georgia). He has totaled over 500 performances to date at such events and venues as MTV’s spring break, and has been featured on numerous mix tapes such as “Trapboy Music” “Coast2Coast” “Legend of Doom” and “Hood Hard” while also working with a range of music stars in Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Turkey, Canada and of course the U.S.

Teacher Preacher has just released his latest work, the 16-track mixtape – “Tales of an Appalachian King” through the joint-venture label, D. Thrash productions / 4dbt inc. This is not the type of mixtape heard from other artists. All traditional rap formulas and songs styles you get on the radio are thrown out the window as Teacher Preacher brings music that is intended to satisfy fans wanting music from unexplored territories. This makes for an unbelievably enjoyable album.

The subject matter involves most classic rap themes, but embraces knowledge. I try not to throw around the word ‘classic’ too much but “Tales of an Appalachian King” probably deserves its place in that category. It is a combination of great rhythm, neat lyrics, and soulful tunes. In between, you’ll find smart features by Black Betties, Boondock Kingz, Dez, Focus, D Thrash, The Grand Champ and Porch Matthews. The chemistry they have with Teacher Preacher is seamless.

The beats are incredibly unique and luring, something you would not expect from an underground release on a limited budget. Yet the lyrical flows on this mixtape are so good that if they were sung without a beat, they would still be great songs. The figures of speech Teacher Preacher uses in his rhymes are completely unorthodox and always leave you wondering about what he will say next. You’ll find nobody outside of Teacher Preacher has styles as different and advanced as can be heard on songs like “Ken Folks Ft. D Thrash”, “Back Home”, “I Go Hardd”, “It’s My Time” or “Talk To Em”. Though my personal favorites are the soulful “Taking Backroads Ft. Black Betties”, the eclectic “In Love With Chevrolet Ft. Dez”, together with the banging “Start Praying Ft. Porch Matthews” and “Killer Flow Ft. The Grand Champ & Boondock Kingz”.

The entire mixtape is mostly comprised of creative, innovative rhymes and beats which are complex and energetic the first time you hear them. And the more you listen to them, the better they get. The harder you listen, the more impressive they are. Teacher Preacher jumps all over the tracks like he can’t wait for his turn on the mic, and along with the featured guests, he never disappoints.

“Tales of an Appalachian King” is a mixtape essential for anyone interested in the type of really great hip-hop music that has died over the past few years. The beats are dope and different, and the lyrics are incredible. Teacher Preacher shows what emcees with well-developed vocabularies and open minds can do!
