Louisiana rapper O. “Dino” Domino has combined his years of military and music making experience to create a new standard for independent artists. Dino has enhanced his marketability by becoming proficient in writing lyrics, artist development, while obtaining a BS Degree in Music Production and Business to unmistakably set himself apart from the sleuth of rappers and engineers emerging in today’s market.
A great nephew of the legendary Fats Domino, Dino, as the CEO of the independent record label Mysterious Entertainment LLC®, has successfully negotiated and acquired Major Distribution and publishing while joining forces with P.U.S.H. (Promote Until Something Happens) out of Dallas, TX. The other half of the label consists of Boss Beatz Productions™, their official music production company which has a standing affiliation with the platinum Houston based label Swisha House through Dino’s official DJ, DJ Big Redd.
Dino who is currently preparing the release of his upcoming EP, to be entitled “PURE”, has dropped the lead, and teaser single, “1159”, featuring Princess Tia (daughter of the first female rapper of the Hip Hop culture, Mc Sha-Rock who impacted the New York City scene during the mid-seventies) and his artist Marquee.
First of all “1159” is such a classic and timeless track. The music lifts the spirits of anyone who is listening. It is one of those hip-hop songs smothered in a smooth, almost neo-soul packaging, that you could listen to over and over again. It is obvious that Dino has created a track that is mellow, heartfelt, sexy and beautiful. Dino has rescued us from the “typical, ordinary, predictable, average, run of the mill, garden variety” rappers. Dino has a style that should not be compared to anyone. Although, when you hear his music you will know who his influences are, no doubt.
Though his music is fiercely footed in the modern sound, you can clearly hear the nineties roots playing up somewhere in the mix. I particularly enjoy the way in which his song arrangements are different from anything Hip-hop currently has riding the airwaves. So many artists have strayed away from ‘feel good’ music. It is so refreshing to see an artist have his own view on what he wants to put out musically. I’m so glad this song was not filled with the usual ‘bag of Hip-hop tricks’ that sound like the songs everyone else is putting out right now.
Dino flows on his own terms and puts out music that means something and makes you feel something too. His choice of features also surprise and delight. Texas-based Princess Tia is more than just a talented artist. Her heritage speaks volumes, being the daughter of the first female rapper of the Hip Hop culture, Mc Sha-Rock, as well as being the god-daughter of Sylvia Robinson, best known for her work as founder/CEO of the Hip Hop label, Sugar Hill Records. Among others Princess Tia has performed with 50 Cent, Lil Flip and Angie Stone. Marquee completes the package with some sweet vocal stylings to give the track its smooth and mellow appeal.
Man, Dino sets his music at such a high standard. He knows exactly what it takes to keep indie on a level with Major releases, so he infuses his releases with the Mysterious Entertainment LLC® music formula.
