“Mama’s Kitchen” resonates with honesty and reflects Hicks’ passion as a songwriter.
If listening to Eric Church, James Aldean, Thomas Rhett and Blake Shelton is your thing? Then Mama’s Kitchen by Hicks is going to be in heavy rotation! If you listened and liked his other two releases, “Unreachable Dream” and “Hayride”, you know what an awesome writer and musician Hicks is.
Hicks (Miqael Persson) is an accomplished songwriter from the south of Sweden, with multiple Gold and Platinum records to his credit. His rock-edged songs have been recorded by artists like Jimi Jamison (Survivor), Giant (Dann Huff), Bobby Kimball (Toto), Little River Band, W.E.T. (Featuring Jeff Scott Soto), Grammy nominated Toby Hitchcock and Grammy winner, Barbados. He has also written with Nashville heavy-hitters like Anthony Smith, Dallas Rogers, Dennis Morgan and Sharon Vaughn. In June 2014, “Hayride” became his first official US radio single release on MTS Records. It reached the Music Row chart Top 80, making Hicks the first Swedish artist to chart on Music Row. In December, “Mama’s Kitchen” was released on MTS.
If you like country rock it really doesn’t get any better than Hicks. He sounds like a country singing Bruce Springsteen. He has wowed me with his music. “Mama’s Kitchen” –a story of brothers growing up, leaving home, spreading out, but always returning to the warmth and love of Mama’s Kitchen – is the song that got me hooked on this guy and now I cannot get enough of his music. It isn’t often that an artist captures my interest like this but Hicks has, with his unusual mix of country and rock.
Hicks is one of the most talented and fastest climbing artists in indie Country music today and this single truly shows how much of his heart and soul he puts into every song. I typically don’t listen to Country music, but have been seduced by Hicks’ style, and to be honest, all of the Country artists from Michael Stover‘s MTS Management Group have thoroughly impressed me for sheer all-round quality.
The grit in Hicks’ voice is evident in every one of his songs and I love how he mixes rock n’ roll into his Country sound; no Country artist today, at least that I have heard of, does that as well as he does.
“Mama’s Kitchen” resonates with honesty and reflects Hicks’ passion as a songwriter and his eagerness to share his experiences with the listener. With his talent, I doubt Hicks could ever write or sing a song badly.
Hicks is an up and coming Country artist that is just about ready to rock the world music scene. He has come from afar to bring us his sound, and I can see him going a whole lot further in the Country music industry!
