King Unicorn is an independent rap artist located in Buffalo, NY. The multi-talented artist has released 1 official Mixtape, “King”, receiving over 10,000 views on a multitude of websites, and now releases his sophomore project “King 2.0.” King has continued to keep the airways ablaze, with singles such as “NBA” and “Bandz”.
“King 2.0.” showcases a host of producers and some featured artists too, across its 22 tracks. King Unicorn really surprised me with this one. He has so many anthems and he spits so many quotables, you’ll truly find something here to enjoy.
He is unique as a rapper from his voice to his flow to his wordplay. His flow is so confident literally making you hang on to his every word. His lyrics are simple yet somehow tight as well as catchy with a lot of wordplay and many sayings. He’s a true game-spitter.
The mixtape is a straight up classic and every single track is memorable in some way. “King 2.0” is brilliantly produced and is handled by The Programmer, Dymon, NSD, Lytelife, Sean Bentley, Jonny Crooks, Gum$, KiddKill, Budha Beats, Cass Kidd, Cold Blood Beats, Hipaholic x Banger Boy, Preezy On The Beat, JiMMy RoYal, Negative One, Sly C and DRMZ Beats.
Every single beat is banging. Every single beat is riding. The album is very cohesive as it flows from track to track effortlessly. Every featured guest is appropriate. I enjoyed almost every song but my favorites are “Here Now”, “Forgive Me God”, “Bandz”, “716”, “Down”, “NBA”, “Dream”, “Money”, “To The Top” and “Forever”.
King Unicorn does not fall into the sophomore jinx and shines on his second coming! I wasn’t expecting much from King Unicorn, however, to my surprise, I was wrong. King Unicorn rips up the mixtape. There are several tracks to bang in your ride on the way to the club and also some mellower tracks that are just as good. Overall, the beats on this mixtape fits King Unicorn’s style of lyrics, and he holds his own on tracks with other featured artists.
Sometimes the greatest rhymes are not the most complex, but the greatest rhymes are the most comprehensible. And that is what King Unicorn delivers here. There’s not a bad track on “King 2.0” and King Unicorn and his featured guests captivates you from start to finish.
If you haven’t heard King Unicorn’s first mixtape then this one will give you a head start into his world. The greater depth that characterizes this album is a clear reflection of his professional growth.
