Kaptain Krook: Pirate Pimpin – Produced by AKA Frank of Hey I Made This Beat / The Dilligentz

Kaptain Krook has released his debut 13-track, full album – Pirate Pimpin – Produced by AKA Frank of Hey I Made This Beat / The Dilligentz – within the first year of making music. Krook wrote all his own lyrics, while the mixtape features many familiar bay area artists such as AKA Frank, Fillmoe Rocky, Kri$$y Blanco, Crutch_707, Yung Villen, $pencity and Cache $treet.

What began as a fun pastime for Krook, quickly became an everyday activity and what he hopes will eventually become his fulltime career.  Says Krook: “Although the context of the songs is mostly pirate slang and references, all of these songs still relate to modern day real life situations and should be viewed as somewhat serious, but also funny and comedic.  Life is too short to be taken so seriously and should be valued every day!  Take a moment to brighten you spirits and have a good laugh… You may even become a fan!”

A lot of hiphop albums or mixtapes these days are thick on production, but thin on content. Well, Kaptain Krook sits slap-bang in the middle, and ably delivers both. Well to be honest Kaptain Krook delivers the snappy, clever, tongue-in-cheek lyrical content, while AKA Frank takes care of the production beats.

kaptain-krook-400But when something is as brilliantly enjoyable as this, there’s really no point in splitting hairs. Team work makes gleam work, and this one shines all the way through. From the album opener Bills On Tha Couch Ft Fillmoe Rocky & Yung Villen to the standouts, Off Limits Ft. AKA Frank Prod. By AKA Frank, You Can Tell Ft. Yung Villen & Cache Street Prod AKA Frank, Party Starter Prod AKA Frank, Koolin Off Wit Erebody – Kaptain Krook Prod By AKA Frank and My Life Prod AKA Frank, to the album closer, Let It Flow Prod AKA Frank. In between, a whole lot of other tracks that you will truly appreciate.

Kaptain Krook can get the laughs and make you think at the same time. His voice is totally different from a lot of other rappers, while his intelligent rhymes seem to find humor in just about anything. Sexual innuendo, metaphors and witty lyrics, over some flaming beats make this album a must have if you like your rap sizzling hot.

Most of the songs on Pirate Pimpin – Produced by AKA Frank of Hey I Made This Beat / The Dilligentz are humorous, while others may have serious undertones, but all are entertaining and much better sounding than most of the over-produced and over-promoted, but still weak fodder that is out there!  A really great accomplishment for a debut.
