Jeff Prophete: “Doin Me” finds him doing what he does best!

From Tallahassee to Miami Hip Hop superstars continue to emerge all over the state of Florida. To add to the list of Florida’s rap superstars is Fort Lauderdale’s own Jeffrey “J.P.” Prophete. J.P has a veteran presence whose music not only touches Hip Hop audiences but also has a crossover appeal into mainstream and pop genres.

He has opened up for Trick Daddy, Yung Joc, Shawty Lo and Lil Scrappy and has performed at Florida State University for Kappa Week, FAMU’s “Be out Day” and at the University of North Florida. The Gwatta Squad Entertainment artist has a new project – I.S.O.M (Independent State Of Mind) – which is set to release August 31, 2016.

What Doin Me”, the new single by Jeff Prophete does, is bring him towards the masses minus the big budgets, the glossy camera tricks and any other far reaching methods to claim crossover appeal that the majors have.

Jeff-Prophete-CoverJeff is beyond that for the most part. “Doin Me” finds him doing what he does best, with the resources and passion he has at his disposition, with absolutely no concerns about how critics or fans will take to this project. He records a great song, lyrically sublime, backed with a superb production, and a cleverly articulated video. And the result is damn near perfect!

The track utilizes a loosely knitted concept surrounding the true life story and grind of Jeff Prophete as its focal point. And Jeff goes places where only few nowadays tend to have gone before him.

His lyrical eloquence takes front and center stage to personify the ideology of using Hip Hop as the soundtrack to thought provoking commentary. Jeff is at his most powerful as he waxes poetic about getting on with his grind and working his way through the struggles to make it.

The beat thumps triumphantly providing a matching aesthetic to Doin Me”. What Jeff has done is employ production that bangs and rides but doesn’t overpower his lyricism and forces the listener to hear him. The production has a glaze of commercial sheen, to make sure this track will appeal to a wide range of crossover fans.

With this track it appears that Jeff Prophete truly understands, and is able to embrace a large audience. Being independent means he is free of label handcuffs and expresses true creative freedom.

And as long as he realizes that he speaks directly to the people who will eventually believe in his music and will follow him because of it, Jeff will have the power to continue to create ambitious projects such as the single and video clip of Doin Me”.
