Hervé will walk you through some pitfalls and questions Christians face daily.
Hervé Alcé is a well-known gospel artist blessed with the gift of singing, rapping, and producing music. His talent has enabled him to reach new heights as he strives to preach the gospel through his real-life lyrics and his sultry vocals. Born in Canada and raised in Miami with a Haitian descent, Hervé incorporates a “dirty South” and island sound to accompany his music. His love for outreach and the youth encourages him to minister at various churches and functions. Hervé is passionate about sharing his love for music with others, and has collaborated with artists such as G.I.E.L. and has opened for well-known and established artists like Da T.R.U.T.H.
I’m a huge Lecrae fan and feel him and a handful of others release the best Christian Rap out there. Hervé, in my book, just added an album to the elite group. The cream of the crop just got thicker with Hervé latest 14-track release, “So Worthy”.
Hervé grabbed my attention with the very first song, “So Worthy”, and held it until the final track, “Walk With You”, went silent. I love Hervé’s delivery, not fast or quick, but deliberate, in a way that makes you feel his emotion-filled beliefs through his words. Hervé will walk you through some pitfalls and questions Christians face daily, that can’t help but assist you in your walk. And he does that, not just rapping, but singing too, in a rich, soulful style that would make the likes of John Legend proud. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to distinguish between the two timbres.
There are so many tracks on “So Worthy” that will really speak to you and keep you coming back to them because they sound so great. If you are a Christian Rap fan, you have to have this in your collection. There is an incredible melding of modern R&B and Hiphop styles that is hard to explain. The beats are banging and the hooks are off the chain, while the great R&B vocals are never cheesy or irritating.
It might just be my personal music taste, but Hervé hit the nail right on the head with this album. The perfect blend of meaningful, deepness in the lyrics with beats that honestly just make you want to bob your head; songs that could easily be used at a party, and at the same time, songs that you can sit down and deeply reflect over or just chillout to.
These tracks perfectly encapsulate Hervé’s mission, which is using fresh approaches in music, “to provide minds of all ages, races and beliefs with a choice that is relatable, credible and holy.”
From standouts like, “Purpose (feat. Naturally Blessed)”, “Flesh2death (feat. Giel)”, “I Love You (feat. Darnell M.)” and “Sincerely Love (feat. TruSoul, Ms. Kerri & Brian Brown)”, “Where You Are (feat. Shadrach Henry)”, “Tell the World About It (Brothas)” to “Is She the One”, Hervé will hold your attention.
All in all, “So Worthy” is an awesome album. Much better than I thought it would be. The music is inspirational and empowering, encompassing a whole lot more than just Rap, be that Christian or otherwise!
