The artist, musician, and author, Dylan Tauber, recently released “Dolphin Trance”, which is his eighth album. As the name suggests, the album contains uplifting trance remixes of dolphin and ocean inspired electronic music. Sure this album is different from earlier Tauber stuff, as well as “Near Death Experience”, but it’s not like Dylan Tauber has completely abandoned his original roots with “Dolphin Trance”; he has just enhanced his musical styling with different synthesizer sounds, more intense dance beats, and drum sets. And while there are many standouts for me, the opening track “The Sea (Trance Remix)” has an interesting blend of piercing keyboards with some unique singing by a female vocalist, which quickly sets the pace and tone of the album.
Similar to Enigma’s style of easy listening musical flows and eased vocals on some tracks, Dylan Tauber comes out of left-field with a brand new blend of EDM sound, Ambient and New Age themes. Tauber’s tangent from completely chill soothing music to his new musical mind trip of interspersed vocals, beats and EDM music styles, makes this his most accessible and brilliant work yet, not considering of course “Near Death Experience”, which is a standalone, mono-themed masterpiece.
If you enjoy authentic, unadulterated, and positive, uplifting music, expect nothing less from this master of audio craft. Some of the songs are edgy and in your face while others are more profound and deeply moving, yet all ride on a fairly insistent beat. The pick of the bunch, for me, are “Dolphin Cry 2.0 (Trance Remix #1)”, “Life Feeling”, “Carry Me (Remix)”, “Dolphin Whisper (Remix)” and “Son of Waves 2.0 (Trance Remix)”. This album stands out amongst the countless jabs at blending World Music and modern New Age rhythms with upbeat Trance music. The result is an album that has the power to take you to a place of uplifting harmony that is oceans away from a frustrated life and unkind world that seems to define our reality.
The album overall has an immediately vibrant sound that is very natural and smooth. One can almost detect the primordial ooze subtly seeping through the dynamic, beat-infused, electro-rhythms. This is the new distinguishing sound of Dylan Tauber on “Dolphin Trance”.
