On the fringes of music you can find some really spectacular things. It’s a journey that’s often worth taking- trying to scope out artists doing something unique and passionate in the face of everything corporate and plain. “Colored World” is one of those few examples of true gems that can only really be found with a little searching.
Sprawling soundscapes, majestic guitar interludes, dynamic percussion and choral vocals that lend it an epic feel, here you get a taste of the epic but also the alternative pop perfection Chaz A. Chambers has achieved with the songs on “Colored World”.
It starts off with “Intro” a most concise affirmation of Chaz’s musical direction, which combines a clean guitar and interesting drum play all in the space of 60 seconds. The next, “Colored Walls (feat.Cody Sisco And Victoria Evans),” is probably the EP’s most mainstream statement, with a loping beat and powerful, driving, choir-like vocal reflections. “Calming Pressures (feat. Cody Sisco, Matt Spinks, Rick Newton and Josh Melby)” follows with ringing slide-guitar and almost dream-pop stylings, before succumbing to a crunchy overdriven rock sound. It’s the best 5 minutes on the EP.
The EP swings from one spectrum to another, closing with an upbeat but gentle and playful tune called “Fore (feat. Josh Melby).”
“Colored World” is creative, focused and concise. Thanks to Chaz A. Chambers’ genius on the instruments and the arrangements, these songs are perfectly crafted entities. The EP stretches the edges of modern music, and rejects genres.
Chaz’s ability to create unique sounds by using different instrumentation essentially gives the record its edge. Those of us with any taste and a desire for something new, will be mesmerized by these tunes. The chord progressions and the layered guitar work bring a deep sweetness to the music. The songs are groovy, rocking, and mellow all at the same time. Simply, as perfect an EP as you’ll ever find!
“Colored World” was recorded in a remote cabin in the North Georgia Mountains, and various other places in Atlanta, GA as well as Denver, CO. The EP was Mixed by Aditya Arissaputra (L-OneStudios) of Surabaya, Indonesia and Mastered by Rodney Mills Masterhouse.
