[twitter style=”vertical” float=”left”] [fbshare type=”button”] [google_plusone size=”standard” annotation=”none” language=”English (UK)”] As usual, being a friend and colleague, I got sent a pre-release copy of the Robbie Tee EP, Acoustic Interludes & One. Call it a brief interlude or slight deviation. This is an exploration into the jazz-fusion genre, unlike anything Robbie has done up until now. The new EP was recorded in 5 days, with no pre-written melodies or elaborated arrangements, Robbie tells us. The album is totally jammed…and beautifully so. It was recorded and produced during the snowiest winter ever recorded in Italy, but the sound and atmosphere of the album is absolutely geared towards the hottest summer.
Hot steamy picking, soloing and phrasing on an old Arrow acoustic to the beats of real drums, bass and piano like you rarely hear today. Being a totally solo work effort, Robbie plays all instruments on the album as well.
Acoustic Interludes & One features 4 acoustic guitar tracks plus 1 electric arrangement more reminiscent of other Robbie Tee works. The overall sound is warm, close-up and live and will definitely put a sparkle into your soul. The tracks move from slow romantic to uptempo toe-tapping beats. This is typical music you’d listen, full blast, driving home from work along the freeway. Or just slightly turned down, while relaxing alongside the swimming pool and a cool long drink.
However, we just turn it up loud and let the rhythms and stylish Robbie Tee guitar wizardry grab and engulf us. We have said this many times before, but we love to keep repeating ourselves.
Robbie Tee is one of the best indie guitar players out there today. He has proven it with the electric six string many times over, now he goes on step further, wrapping the jazz acoustic all around his fingers. This is going to be an absolute collector’s item . A must have indie album in your collection. And it will probably be one of a kind for Robbie Tee.
If you like John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola, you’re going to love this album.
The EP is set for official release during April-May 2012, but will be available on the Official Robbie Tee Website as a pre-release, discounted download, during the next few days.
