Gordon Andres is R&B/Soul singer/songwriter based in Brooklyn NY, originally from Guyana, South America. Gordon has just released his brand new single, entitled “Beautiful.” This is a fantastic slow jam and sounds like a classic. Gordon is such a fantastic singer. He has a strong, passionate and extremely soulful voice in the Old Soul tradition. The lyrics are there too. It’s not that made up situational music some artists release. This is something you can definitely relate to.
With “Beautiful,” Gordon Andres fills the big void in R&B music. He has a taken a quantum leap forward on his new single. Especially with music industry pressure on artists to write vapid, love- ‘em and leave ‘em songs that don’t go over the head of the fast food crowd, Gordon has opted to write an elegant and exquisite song about the challenge of commitment.
If you love R&B, great lyrics, great vocals that can move into a falsetto at the snap of a finger, and great instrumentality, you will love “Beautiful.” I think Gordon Andres has found an exciting musical identity with this release that hopefully he will continue to explore and evolve this into an album of songs. I usually just can’t take some of the younger R&B generation’s lyrics, which I often find very offensive and degrading (especially to women), and downright pornographic. Many of today’s young male artists only sing about sex (and the raunchier the better). It’s so nice to hear someone like Gordon Andres sing about falling in love, romance, and self-introspection.
This track definitely reflects a maturity and stature, which I’m not even sure Gordon possesses in years – not knowing too much about his personal biography that is – but he is certainly way ahead of Chris Brown and the rest of gang in the lyrical department. In “Beautiful,” Gordon Andres delivers a stellar and classical R&B sound showcasing that soul is still very much alive within the music.
