Derek Lemieux (DJ D-REX) started making remixes and putting club songs together in March of 2012. He is a paratrooper stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina and DJ’s on his free time. It’s the love of music and making people dance that drives him to become a big name DJ. Derek Lemieux uses MacBook Pro, Virtual DJ Pro, Novation Launchpad and Hercules DJ 4-set to conduct his shows.
Through his work Lemieux shows that he is a great DJ and mixer. His mixes are a statement about electronic music, and it’s basically being the modern extension of classical symphony as far as musical purity and supremacy. His track starts are pure symphony much like that heard in movie scores. The mixes evolve with the melody sinking then resurfacing and making the songs soar.
Lemieux can create many styles of music and be good at all of them. Among others he dabbles in House, Trap, Techno, and even traces of Dubstep can be heard in his mixes. On the Imagine Dragons remix, he stands out from the crowd and keeps the vibe going brilliantly. On “Call Me Trappy”, The production is addictive, while pulsive beats get in your head and you just can’t stop the music.
I have a critical ear for melody, and not once did I find myself wanting to skip forward just to get past all the repetition, or skip over those “filler tracks” in the mixes, which you so often find between the few really good tracks on dance remixes. Not only did my ear like it, it has such good strong dance rhythms too, that I just couldn’t help moving to the beat.
DJ D-REX comes out strong with a wide selection of tracks that are sure to be crowd pleasers. He produces very emotionally filled intros, and then slowly takes the tracks full circle with his own soul pounding mixing.
His New Year Mix 2014 DJ D-REX starts with an addictive synth-frenzy and by the end you’re in atonal heaven, with the music intoxicating your senses. He shows that he is a creative, spiritual and energetic producer.
Overall the music on DJ D-REX’s mixes is stirring, powerful, moving and sweeping. His haunting rhythms, sounds and effects, build into total ear electricity. Do yourself a favor and give his mixes a spin!
