The official introduction to Aspyrynth reads something like this: Born by two art travelers who are lost in a magical oasis: Bayu Angora and Gin Wandana. First of all, if you are familiar with Aspyrynth’s music at all, you know that it is instrumental, soft, and full of rich layers of sounds from a slew of different instruments ranging from melodic work like “Short Story Of Lullaby” to intensely dramatic guitar riffs as on “The New Holy War” and the punchy drums of “Oase Ecstase”.

Each individual song in this collection has its own identity but moves to the next song with great fluidity which gives these songs a purpose to be put on an album together and gives the collection a symmetry and uniformity that does not constrict but rather acts as a comfort for the listener. This is not music of endless guitar noodling with no development. Every track starts typically tender and fragile in post rock fashion, builds up layer by layer, and ends in gigantic proportions; truly beautiful, haunting and melancholic.

The exotic feel of the “Lost In The Green” is mind-blowing and mood altering. While smooth and mellow, it is also up-lifting and racy. There are no words to accurately express the feelings this music arouses. By meshing different forms and styles of music, Aspyrynth has created a truly unique style of their own, which they like to call “Contemplative Rock”.

Slow and breezy, it delves into deep atmospheric settings, and picks up with luscious guitar sounds aching to halcyon. The guitar sounds clash exquisitely into one another, merging and melting, forming a perfect blend of serenity and tranquility, leaving you with sonic, shimmering, lush textures to daydream with.

Each track is a beautiful exploration of mood and texture. Occasionally, bits of melody surface and float away. All of the tracks in this collection are completely instrumental, and although there are times when you really expect to hear a voice bursting in, the music is crafted in such a way that you’ll stop missing any imaginary voices and start enjoying the music until soon it all becomes almost addictive! This is a truly beguiling, soothing collection from Aspyrynth.
