“Take a part in a mysterious journey throughout the universe. The cosmic aura, combined with the exploration of the mystic timeline – this is the core of the Cosmic Retrospections album. Phenomenal and sometimes weird,” explains Unnilhexium.
“Cosmic Retrospections” offers up music which shifts through a variety of moods, styles, and evocations, all handled with a stupendous command of both the studio and the music created therein. The album’s title really sums things up here; Unnilhexium takes the listener from both blissful and powerful electronic symphonic visions of heaven, to dark and foreboding cosmic planets.
“Cosmic Retrospections,” the album opener and title track, really starts things off well, in my opinion. But where things really shine is in “Retrospection I,” here Unnilhexium shows his command of both some very tranquil and achingly beautiful music based around a thrusting danceable back-beat. The combination of synthesizer, piano tone, female-like vocal shrill and frenetic percussion produces a quite captivating atmosphere.
So, within this album you will find much variety. Pigeonholing this into New Age would be really cheapening it. It’s so much more, and so much more complex.

The magical hands of the composer seem to emerge from the whirling universe, to embrace the synthesizer and entertain the hordes with rippling and dancing notes. Bombastic soundscapes sonically describe the mystical cosmic aura, making for a great hypothetical soundtrack. It is charged with glorious choral rises, militant drumming permutations, eerie interludes, and inspirational sound bliss, cascades upon the senses like a sonic waterfall, both placid and torrential.
Harmonious, dissonant, hushful and booming. The six tracks that make up this album, cover the entire aural spectrum to become inspirational, motivational and electric. Good pick up music. If you are looking for something that gets you moving, the eruption of this most amazing sound is so complex and stirring that it will be hard to ignore.
“Cosmic Retrospections” is simply fascinating. It starts with “Cosmic Retrospections” which introduces you to the entire atmosphere of the album and continues with “Retrospection I,” “Retrospection II,” “Retrospection III,” “Retrocomputer” and closes out with “Cosmic Retropections: the End.”
There is not a single composition on this album that one feels should not be there. Overall, extremely inspired and uplifting, sending the audience a sense of ‘well being’ and ‘out of this world-ness’!
Unnilhexium makes transporting, evocative music that inspires thoughts and feelings about ourselves and our relationship to the cosmos.
Definitely worth owning.
