sammattick-300Debut albums are always crucial. It’s a first impression that usually captures the attention of the listener. You look at rappers like Kanye West with his incredible “College Dropout”, or Jay-Z with his debut “Reasonable Doubt” and “G.o.o.d Kid m.A.A.d City” by Kendrick Lamar. All of these albums set up incredible careers for these rappers. “Rebelution” by Sammattick The Rebel has the potential to create an important pathway for the artist.

Sammattick proves himself an imaginative lyricist and shows that his music can speak for itself instead of having to rely on gimmicky sounds. One thing that is immediately noticeable when listening through this album is that the guest features all do a great job too.

Looking at the lead-up single prior this album, “Summertime”, Sammattick delivers an unstoppable force of nothing but pure lyricism, and one of the most groovy, well-produced tracks of the year. Now Sammattick demonstrates through these 13 songs just how capable of holding down tracks he is.

I’m a big fan of old school hip-hop, especially the early 90s era and Sammattick has a whole lot of that going on here.  A true lyricist, storyteller, and flow master; Sammattick brings you into his world and keeps a firm grip on your ears and consciousness throughout.

There are very few emcees from this generation out that stay true to the art of rap. Therefore Hip Hop has been on the decline as far as musical quality goes. There are a few glimmers of hope with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole that have been contributing to the culture in a positive manner, but they come few and far in between. However, Sammattick The Rebel gives this generation of Hip Hop a much-needed reminder of how important hard work and true appreciation for the art of Hip Hop can be. Equipped with an easy-going flow, colorful lyricism and a variety of organically banging beats, Sammattick is an emcee with great technical skills who can tell palpable stories.

“Rebelution” contains everything you could possibly want in a Hip Hop album; compelling stories, great production, personality and variety. It has 13 tracks filled with Sammattick’s experiences and ideologies, from standouts like “Holy Batmans”, “Alter Egos”, “Dear God”, “Fuck A 9-5 (feat SL6)”, “Testimony (feat.Artistick)”, “Dear Diary (feat N.i.)” to “Man In The Mirror (feat.Caleb Khari)” and “Arch Your Back (feat.N.i.)”.

This is a near flawless debut album that fully demonstrates Sammattick The Rebel’s artistry, explosive lyrics and quality production values. “Rebelution” is now available for streaming and digital download on SoundCloud, Spotify and SammattickMusic.com
