Lost Stars is a Rock/Alternative band from Nashville, consisting of members Damian Malnar, Charley Holden, Trey Warner, Thomas Altman and Brad Covington. Lost Stars have recently released their debut single, entitled “American Dream”. Lost Stars is one of those rare bands that comes along who instantly stick in your head and force you to fall in love with them. You could compare them to a thousand bands, and never quite hit the nail on the head. The fact of the matter is Lost Stars play pure, honest rock music with heart.
If you like songs that tug at your heart, make you think, make you cry, make you remember, or even fill you with wonder and uplift your soul, you will love this track. If like me you’ve been wondering when an alternative pop-rock band was going to come out that wasn’t completely boring and unoriginal.
If Keane put you to sleep, Coldplay now sound dated and Maroon5 surrendered to dance music a long time ago, while Train now sing nothing more than nursery rhymes put to music, here comes the Lost Stars. Their debut single, “American Dream”, has just the right kind of believability to restore your confidence that every once in a while a good band will finally get back onto TV and radio…given the chance!
I hate to sound like someone who is just raving, but this is seriously one of the best pop-rock singles to come along this year so far. It’s 100 percent heartfelt, honest and original – Lost Stars play their instruments; they sing their lyrics, and they sound and look really good while doing it too. They are, what is normally called ‘the total package’.
The track roars with powerful vocals an incredible melody and superb musicianship, combined with solid engineering and music production. The mastering adds the cherry on top, by avoiding the usual over-compression-syndrome so popular in modern music production. This allows the track to ‘breathe’, with perfect instrumental and vocal separation, but with an almost ‘live-room’ sound.
It’s great to find a group that knows how to properly bring out emotions in people with their songs, yet at the same time does not neglect the technical aspects of their music. With this kind of all-round dedication, I expect the Lost Stars to go from nowhere to everywhere in a very short space of time.
Furthermore, the piano-driven rock of “American Dream” sticks in your head long after the final note is played, and you’ll find yourself playing it every chance you can. There really is no better measuring stick for music than this!
