KonQuest: “Keep Pushing” – authentic hip hop that true fans would respect and appreciate

KonQuest declare themselves a collective that is “creating and providing substantial media and arts to the masses in attempts to ‘wake up’ those asleep in the critical times of today.” Out of that collective come VerseBorn and Wreck The Rebel, who together have dropped the track, “Keep Pushing” – intended as “a motivational reminder for everyone going through hard times, that they are not alone.”

konquest-bandKonQuest, in general make amazing and beautiful music, whether you’re a rap fan or not. Each beat is beautifully unique and will for sure have your head bobbing. Their lyrics are also on point as they continue to adapt their style while still keeping their poetic ability.

Produced by John Savage, “Keep Pushing” maintains all of the above principles, and then some. Since the late 90’s, mainstream hip hop has taken an unusual and very unpleasant turn with the main focus being money, cars, women and the other materialistic things.

VerseBorn and Wreck The Rebel take a different route and affront real problems, laying it on the line in one single verse – “Dealing with a crazy moma / I grew up without a dad / Now im grinding for my son / To give em what i never had” – giving the correct dose of authentic hip hop that true fans would respect and appreciate.

VerseBorn and Wreck The Rebel have never sounded better; the flow is confident and articulate, and the subject matter is as biting and personal as ever. It’s blunt and expresses emotions that other songs can only dance around. The two construct one of the best built tracks about love, pain and hardships.

konquest-coverWith impeccable rhyme skills they create a beautiful masterpiece that is backed by a stripped-down, classic piano and bass driven soundscape. John Savage has an unbelievable ability to break the rules of production in hip-hop and deliver an outstanding piece of work.

Traditionally, Hip-hop producers tend to follow a certain structure in their tracks that is predictable and repetitive. Savage acknowledges that structure, and even repeats it on “Keep Pushing”, but he switches in a mesmerizing and hypnotic twinkling keyboard sonic that creates something incredibly memorable within the beat.

This is hip-hop at its finest, a poetic display of true feelings and emotions spit skillfully over a divine beat. KonQuest (VerseBorn and Wreck The Rebel) combines unparalleled depth with an almost pop accessibility and simplicity.

The meaningful and well-delivered rhymes over a polished yet textured beat on “Keep Pushing” will stand up to repeated listening. This is an underground group well-positioned to achieve widespread recognition!
